The name's Max, but I go by Brakken, too. I've been drawing all my life, but have only started taking it seriously over the last few years. And now I have decided to begin really knuckling down and learning it! My plan is to keep to a daily schedule that includes warmups, lined drawings, digital painting, and animation - posting my work here as I go. I have weekends off, to work on my comic projects.
I think one of my greatest flaws is getting to a point with a drawing where I know I need to add more to it, but I've no idea how or where it is required. I hope this thread will serve as a journal and a guide - and help me achieve my goals as an artist.
Okay, let's do this!

Morning gestures and life - I've gotten hold off some anatomy books - so currently studying the skeleton.
15 minute reference paintings from the Amazing Spider-Man.
30 minute self portrait
(might do one of these every week)
Slight computer hiccup - slight delay on getting to drawing. Won't stop me though, no sir.
Sketching from Super Smash Bros. Brawl
(Pit in a Wolf pose, and Wolf in a Pit pose)
And an update on my piece
Some of these scanned in slightly overlapped D:
30-minute paint from Prince of Persia. Found this one quite difficult to refine.
And I think this one might be done - not sure where to go next with it. Thoughts?
Gestures and jetstures ;D
In human anatomy, I find I struggle most with legs, so I'm focusing on them - bone studies and basic shapes.
15-minute storm paints. I've been shying away from different brushes so far - but I think I'll start trying them out.
Gestures and studies. Bones are kind of awesome.
30-minute Davy Jones. I feel inclined to finish this one, actually.
And starting a new original painting!
35-minute self-portrait (I look like a derpy Robert Pattinson)
And a little update on that other painting.
Back from a weekend of comics work
15-minute paints of some youtubers - Dom Fera and Chris "Bing" Bingham!
And a speedpaint of Hearts Boxcars from MSPaint Adventures. (can't recall how long - 45-60 minutes I think)
And makin' waves
It's fun learning about anatomy
Phew, hectic weekend - and now it's Summer here. The heat always slows me down D:
15-min self portrait and glass.
Didn't have much time at allllllll today - only managed to update this a little
Working on this one has been pretty fun so far - but I've kinda been avoiding those cliffs, and the kid's pants. Can't ignore them forever!
Gestures and arms - arms are crazy, yo
15-minute fish. Li'l fatty fat fish.
And an update on this one
It's weird - most of the time I have a vision for a drawing, and then the final image either fails to meet it, meets it perfectly, or in rare cases exceeds it. But with this one I don't really have a vision of the end result - it's being drawn in my head at the same rate as on the page. Pretty exciting actually
I guess it was hands day today
And this dealy - getting closer to finalisation time. Gonna be nice to move onto a new piece
Aaaaaand then I got really busy for two weeks, finishing my Christmas flash game. Gonna have to jump start this routine again, but that's okay. Things get crazy when you're trying to do everything at once!
Kinda floundering with this one now (pardon the pun)
Only had time for gesture stuff today...
Gettin' back in the game! Feels good.
15 minutes each
And starting a new thing!
Gestures and stuff from the past couple of days
Small update on this
Bunch of sketches from the past couple of days. No more late nights for me - my gestures the next morning turn out horrible otherwise.
Apple and egg, 15 minutes each
Gestures, and some other things too - Making clothes a regular thing to draw, now. Also, a quick drawing of Jack and Dean, some favourite YouTubers.
And redrew a Psylocke pose from the Escher Girls tumblr.
Gesturrres or whatever
Self-portrait - 10 minutes I think? I rushed it like crazy.
And this one is finished I think - at least, I'm finished with it.
15-minute paints of Henry Cavill as Mr. Super in the upcoming Steelman film.
People and also wolves!
10 minute wolf paints!
(One guess what my next original painting will be of.)
Starting a new thing. Surprise surprise, it's a wolf!
Gonna get back to anatomy studies soon, I think
Hey look, Bob Dylan
Muscles are pretty cool
Tried out a fog effect which I like. I'll keep it in mind for final touches.
Gonna get back on a better schedule, now!
