Here's a piece I been working on this weekend for the Illustration Academy, I was assigned the letter N, and the piece had to do with music... I chose Nine inch Nails because I could have fun with the imagery... excuse the picture, it's kinda blurry-
ps- I just noticed the nails are a little shifted... I havent glued them down so I'll fix that later.
I don't think the halo thing around the head is quite working design wise, plus its so frequently used. We're going to be attracted to and looking at the head because of the nails and stitches all pull our eye there. The halo sort of hits us over the head with it. I'd almost like to see the background flipped vertically so the "head like a hole" begins to disappear into the background.
So which instructor is this for? I was somewhat curious about the illustration academy. Do you already have BFA somewhere? Weren't you at the workshop?, if so I wish I had the money you must have man. Going to be an expensive 8 weeks.
Looks pretty good. The hand on the right is making some unpleasant tangents with the halo. I'm not totally convinced by the position of either arm, actually.
