    Stitchface's Shitfaces *one pic 03/20/05*

Well I haven't been here for awhile. Wow this section is the most inspirational, I like how fresh and raw alot of the sketches and drawings are here. The closest thing to see whats inside your head, just look at an artists sketchbook. I decided to post some sketches after seeing some of the threads here especially Insane Visions, Targete, and an old friend, Mr. Anderson. Whats up?!

I just got a gig of ram in my machine, whew it flies!! Now I will have to hook my scanner so I can post my new sketches, but for right now...
Here are some old ones, some are pencil and others are photocopied and scribbled w/ markers, colored pencils, and gel pens. I am also practicing in PS on digital sketches as well. In the future I will try to keep the size down, I apologize.

    Thanks for looking!!!

Hey thanks for the replies guys!! (Targete, I have been a frequent visitor to your sketchbook, *right click* save in art folder!)

Wow, I forgot about this and I thought everyone else did too! I got busy doing other projects and didn't have time to post. I am in the process of getting a website up and running, so here is a few sketches I did tonight.
Man, I have to get back in the habit of doing this everyday.
I recently watched the Carlos Huante DVD by Gnomon, which you can see has influenced my drawing habits lately.( Black colored pencils, alcohol, eraser, and PS7).

Well, as long as I'm logged on, here are a couple of old sketches inspired by the recent War of the Worlds movie remake, and Sammy's sketchbook thread.
The first two were drawn in 98' after I had read the story again, and finally wanted to draw the martian the *right* way as described in the book, both are photocopied drawings with markers, colored pencils, and gel pens.

The last drawing is one I had just recently done, wanting to go back and improve my ealier designs. Will post more soon,Enjoy.

PelleTM-Thanks, I do freelance concept art, but I am updating my portfolio to look for a fulltime gig.
    Keepiru-Thanks,will do!
Burning Eyes-Thanks, I looked @ your SB, and you should just keep going and practice, practice, practice. I forgot that, and thats why I started this up.
steak-tron- Awesome! "right-click saved" in art folder, many of your sketches.
    Grump!-HaHaHa funny as sh*t! Thanks.
prostate sunrise-Much appreciated for you to check out my SB, I visit yours on a weekly basis, loved your alien on acid!!
    Chaotic logik-Cool,thanks alot.

I will post other sh*t as well, but these are some projects I'm trying to get outta my head right now.
I don't like the first sketch, its not what I see in my head, will do again until I like it. Oh its the creature from the movie "The Village", at least I how thought it would look, sorta like the little-red-riding-hood-on-acid-wolf.
The second is something I am still mulling over as well. Its from one of my favorite short stories "Who Goes There" by John W. Campbell. Which inspired the movie "The Thing". Still working that one out as well.

Saw your post in the creature-thread and got curious
Really good sketchbook you have here, I like all the nitty gritty details you put in your drawings.
    Keep it up!

hey, lots of cool stuff here, I'm glad your thread got bumped back to the top or I might have missed it again!. You have some nice, fresh creature designs and I really dig the textures you're building.

Question for you: how are you using the alcohol with the black colored pencil, does it lift and move the pigment in a soft wash?

glad to see you posting again

Great work, i am glad to see that you are posting images again. Your work is pretty amazing, so keep it up and good luck with the positions you are trying out for. If you get some time please drop by the sketchbook and give me some advice. I currently want to get into doing toy design or concept work and would love to hear your thoughts.

Just got the AVP book from design studio press, lots of great pics and designs.
Except no designs or pics of the creature at the end of the movie, hmm, so I was inspired to do this tonight.(If you haven't seen the movie, oh well, sorry.)

I have been drawing everyday so I have a large upload soon, also I have been teaching myself digital painting techniques (methodologies), so I will show my progress.

    Thanks everyone for looking!!!

    Huante

    Great work Stitch -

Your work is really starting to pop with that Huante technique - not that its too bad without it Post up some more!

I had a chance to watch the Huante DVD recently, but apparently forgot to write down the type of paper he used in the drawing demo.

Do you know what that was, or did he actually not mention it?

    thanks,

Thanks for looking everyone!! Been busy trying to get my website up and with freelance, I will have a large upload soon. (Still practicing digital painting techniques)-

prismacolor- The paper used is Bienfang Rag Marker Layout Paper ( or any other brand will do).

Also, I have been trying Plein Air Painting which improves your paintings skills 100%!! (Very tough to do and get comfortable with) So here is one of those as well, a small sketch-6x8, oil on canvas board.

Here are two practice colored sketches, I am liking this technique very much, let me know what you think could be improved, Thanks for looking!!
A very large and wonderful download coming soon.

First, here is an inspiration (hommage to) insane vision's alien fetus sketch, when I saw that drawing I was inspired to create this one, "Baby Cthulhu":

I really dig the glazed eye look on that Cthulhu baby. And the rest here is some proper stichwork. It's superbly rendered. If I were just a bit more deluded, I'd touch my screen to feel the forms. Keep posting!

Amazing stuff, really! I LOVE that stitched up baby.

Small crit too, the large eye on that nightmare monster doesn't look completely spherical all the way around, but i still dig the piece a lot. Really awesome colour.
