    new to pen and tablet.




    Hi my name is Saul Rivera, I'm fairly new to the pen and tablet. Heres a painting I did of a rottweiler dog. I did this just as practice. Please give me some insight on whats the biggest problem here, I know its "newbish" and I'm just trying to improve. please help

    Throw out your tablet for a while and practice drawing with pencil and paper first. Study structure, perspective, drawing basic shapes and conveying form and volume (from real life preferably) and then move to studying anatomy, because all of those are failing in your dog.

    Oof. An animal with its mouth open is a tough place to start. In your example, the underlying skull is all messed up -- which is why TinyBird is recommending paper and pencil.

    I'm going to recommend this thread to you for digital practice. Look at all the examples and then try it yourself.

    I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).
