oh how i want to buy you a pack of cool gray tria markers and just let you go bonkers with them. i can see you droppin' in pools of shadow and form and then have a hayday with the line work on top of it all.
    nice update, brendan!

    ok ok!

here's the sketch I removed from the earlier post:

here's the next character for Wildfire Games:

hm..looks like I need to rotate his patella to match his right foot.

Wildfire games eh? That's my company of 3 years' name.. well WildFire llc to be technical. I hope they aren't producing RPG's, it'll be kind of funny seeing 2 different RPG developers on the shelf with the exact same name. Regardless, those are some pretty solid armor designs you have there. Out of curiosity, I don't know how the heck you guys can work so loose with scribbles all over the place for initial sketches. Do you end up erasing allot while you're working once you get the form down?

nyah nyah, the wildfire games I work for is older!
http://wildfiregames.com/our-history/ it's a hobby/mod group, so I suppose it's not really a legal entity in the same way that LLC is. here's the link to the project page: http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/

that sketch is done done done. I do colors underneath the mulitply layer pencils and then opaques on top. stray lines don't bother me as much as grey paper. that dude with the checkered headband had the head redrawn 4 or 5 times and it game me huge hassles in the color process. once I'm allowed to post the finished color you'll be able to see how much it changed. ideally, in my images the rendering shouldn't be too different from pencil to color.

quite a lot of nice sketches in here but this one really stood out for me,
    http://nand.net/~keough/sketchbook/sketch214.jpg.
if i have would have to give you a crit, it would be that the connection between head and figure can seem a bit stiff every now and then. im no expert in figure stuff but you might want to check it out.

    good stuff man,

nice gestures, and great build-up of linework, man.

glad i could become part of your sketchbook support group. especially since you have such a different style as helzon and undertow. hoping we can all learn a lot from each other. and yeah, as i told dave and mike, i promise to update more regularly.

    see ya.

BW, just wanted to say that the lich king, well, the zombies around it and the mood the piece gives reminds me of the zombies from Diablo II. You kill'em and then they stink up the whole place. I like how you start the characters with very loose lines and then build from there. Keep it up!

That CHOW is awesome, man. At least you know what the hell a lich was. lol I really love how your spread yourself out. You do a bit of everything. You try to work in as many subjects as possible. You've even got some cars up in here!! I like the scribble stuff as well. I like to sketch that way but it get so messy. But I find that the messier stuff is more fluid and dynamic. Dunno. I'd like to see you keep workin' on those faces too. The studies look nice and hopefully we'll translate well into the rest of your work. Very nice stuff, man. Keep updayin'!! You goin' to the workshop?

HA!!...goddamn brilliant B. That shield on the swordsman looks so huge it could be a piece of furniture, don't get me wrong though it's fitting. Nonetheless, though all the figures are wonderful. The Chow entry is something else again, in that it keeps your focus on him and remands the mummies outside that sphere. Though I get the impression that you are going to update this once more; and can't wait to see it.
    Keep it coming.
    Cheers!

thanks mike! that guy's shield is about the right size, but I think it's probably too heavy for him to lift like that unless he were falling off a cliff! I need to redo that unit design anyhow, I've been scolded that no one wore chainmail in that style for another 1000 years.
