    Smile Art Jobs and Testing

This is kind of a silly/weird question.

I'm in college and throughout the past few years I had some instructors mention smoking marijuana, or telling stories about how their art directors or bosses would sometimes smoke in the studio. I toured a few design agencies before and some had very lenient alcohol policies, allowing designers to socially drink in the studio. I know a lot of artists get stereotyped as kind of free-spirited hippy-esque drug users. That got me thinking, from your personal experience, what kind of drug testing goes on in the professional art workplace? What were the kind of attitudes towards a little bit of alcohol in the studio? Are a lot of professional artists users of drugs? I don't have any professional experience yet and I'm curious to know what kind of people and policies I may have to deal with.

I've worked at quite a few big studios and they all had a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy. The last in house position I had was 2001 but I can't imagine that it is more lax now than it was then. So use some common sense. No company wants illegal activities going on in their bullpens.
