SICK anthoney!!! I love the eye motif going on with the tentacles.

Here is my entry for the latest EoW. I've still got a shit ton of rendering to do before I can call it done...

Anthony: it looks pretty good, indeed! could be a nice tattoo. Also, i saw your comment on facebook, thanks mate!

Syle: cool concept, i suggest you to take a look at Noah Bradley illustrations, since enviros are my weakest point, i cant offer you much feedback at the moment, except good luck for the contest.

I worked a bit more on the concept i post the other day.

Syle: I'm finding it reall hard to figure out the perspective on your piece, and how would one traverse such a structure.. Also some things you might think about are why is he there and where is he going as well as the previously mentioned how will he get there because all art and illustrations should tell a story (one of my problems as well).. This is something I've recently read and it just kinda stuck with me. I know you were going for scale so maybe try another viewpoint so you can show the destination so your picture will say "hey here's this hero guy and he's right here, but he's trying to get to this castle so he can eat from the magical cup of lizards feet." and I'd show at least a portion closer to show how he is going to get from point a to point b. like maybe rock climbing mounts, or tunnels that weave in and out of the structure or rope ladders.
Cause at this point it's just a guy in front of a thing from the viewers standpoint..

Sorry if I didn't clearly express anything I was trying to say, I am trying to work on my writing.

Ed: hey yeah I'm everywhere apparently lol. And it looks as if you fixed the leg issue the guy pointed out on Facebook. I agree that the belt should flow with the pants cause that's it's job right, to keep the pants up. Also this may be a personal opinion but the left eye looks a bit odd in relation to the right eye. I cannot tell if she's squinting or if her top eyelid just drops down a little lower.. But other than that it's beautiful.

Anthoney: thanks for that well thought out crit! It helped a lot.

Ed: looking good! that last portrait reminds me of The Watchmen style; specifically the pirate sub plot/story. Very nice!

Eddy: Good looking character study. He definitely fits the concept you were thinking of. Nice work!

    Anthoney: thanks

Here is something I was working on the other day. Sort of a comic book illustrative feel to it.

Really nice, Eddy. You treated those flames very well! Good job on the lighting/reflected light as well. Any story behind this character?

Here's a small update from me. I put a ton more stuff in my main sketchbook, but I didn't want to pollute this thread with that sketchy crap Here is a Feng Zhu study of some Asian buildings in the mountains. I've still got some work to do on it before I can call it done, but I think the colors and values are working pretty well right now. I'm especially pleased with the mountains; they look very painterly (at least to me...lol), which is a big step forward for me. I'll try adding in some photo textures to see if I can polish it off.

Hi Syle! yeah, she is a mythic empress in the fantasy setting im developing.

And a really nice update! glad to see that you are still working hard, and good job with that Feng Zhu study. The best part for me are those mountains in the background, you just need to bumb them a little.
And dont forget to post the finished version!

Nice work, Eddy. I want to read this thing! Do you have a specific time line you are working on? Also, thanks for the kind words on that Feng Zhu study. What did you mean exactly by bumb?

I'll hopefully have some worthy updates soon. Like Anthoney, I have been dealing with other stuff lately. Cheers!

Syle: Thanks man! well im still in the design phase of the project, i plan to start writing the script the next month or so, and start working by spring or summer.
With bumb, i mean to give those mountains more depth and contrast. (I feel that my english level isnt enough to explain myself )

Here is my last style test for Divinitus, finished.

Good work Eddy. Nice job on keeping the detail/focus on the faces. It works really well.

Here is the completed version of this piece. 20 hours from sketch to completion. I could probably push it further and clean it up a bit, but I think I got what I wanted out of it. I focused on layer control and composition more than anything else.

Nice studies! drawing from life is indeed the best way to learn. I specially like those quick gesture studies, they are very dinamic. And you finished piece is great, i knew you could push it further.

This is my update, a redhead on a tight stealth suit. What a surprise! xD

Nice Eddy. I like the skin. That reflection effect under her is pretty effective too. Also, good color harmony matching her eyes to some other elements within the picture (sleeves, etc). It may just be me, but from her waist down seems a little too big. Like, maybe 15% bigger overall...except for maybe her feet. If you choose to change that, you could probably just use the Warp or select+resize tools to put her in proportion.

Here's another update from a figure study group I attended. These are 10-20 minute poses.
