    Sam's Sketchbook

This will be a bit of an art dump, recent & old.
    No real order. Crit away!
I've ben told my main downfall is using black too much and textures in the wrong places and too early.

Having films week next week at a local pub and they're having a little art exhibition going on at the same time showing peoples own design of a movie poster. So this is my entry.
bit of a rush getting it done and tried to use less black!

Very nice stuff! and yeah about the metal u need to make the lines tighter, make them more straight on the gun and add more contrast on your dropshdow i think,
    but nevertheless nice sketchbook !

    See my latest Sketchbook work!

Nice work you've got there, thanks for sharing. I kinda have to agree on using to much black though, I hope you realize pure black doesnt exist in the real world. Other then that, great work, keep pushing.

    Matte? Math? wha-???

Hm, try to change your hues abit, i notice you use the same pale yellow, and that kind of yellow often looks green, which is really nice for drawing plants in a warm red lighting. I would use a blend of golden/orange colors and titanium white for yellow lights. yes, you def use alot of black, try to replace blacks with colours that add depth. I mean warm, or cold colours- that way you can still have shadows, but with depth and attitude. Try some very dark, but satured reds (teracottas),blues (prussian with maybe tints of celadon?), purples are nice too.

Awesome crit buddy, yeah i'm slowly working out how to not use black so much. The pic above i was just colour picking from the ref photo, i didn't even think about using other colours.
