    Steampunk concepts

    hi guys, im trying to do more conceptart instead of fineart so wanted to do something i have never done before .. steampunk .. ive made one till now its not finnished yet want to add something, but i wanted some tips on how to approache steampunk or character design and comments are always more than welcome !

    Steampunk is about the gadgetry. There is nothing that says steampunk about this guy right now.

    And I have to admit that though I have nothing against beefy guys, that sort of "I spent lots of time in a gym polishing my abs" looking guy is somewhat far from what I personally envision 19th century's Victorian-ish steampunk guys to look like, especially if they do not do lots of manual labor, and even in that case especially the abs come off as bit too modern, kinda like if somebody dressed up a modern actor, instead of this being a real person in the steampunk universe you're creating here.

    Also I'd put just a bit more attention to making the clothing folds believable, at the moment the sweater's front part has some wrinkles that I squint my eyes at.
