A portrait from imagination. Influenced by the study I did earlier.

Oh wow, I really love the skintones on those last two. Lovely variation of hues. Watch the use of darker texture brushes on skin, especially on women - the one in post 194 kind of looks like she has stubble, or at least a very dirty face. (Though if it is meant to read as dirt, you're heading in the right direction but not quite there.)

Nice improvement. I did notice that all your imaginative faces are from the front, straight on. Maybe time to change the viewpoint a bit.

    Hey.

You did a good job with the study in 195. Hues look really nice, and you were able to bring alot of it in to the one from imagination. The hues work quite in the imagination one, comparing to the reffed girl, don't forget to push the values, and bring some hard contrasting pairs, like clear edges and all that. You did this wonderfully on the reffed one, and it resulted to me reading it alot more deeply, the whole whing pops nicely. On this imagination one, you're almost being too nice to the hues and not putting opposite pairs next to each other, it's kind of halfway there and the result is not as powerful.... Very easy to fix, especially since you have done it great on the reffed one....just keep it in mind.

@Revidescent: Thanks man. Yeah I wasn't trying to paint dirt I'l' be sure to watch out for that in the future.

@Black Spot: Thanks and you're right, I should do faces from other viewpoints.

@Lakka: Thanks man and you're right on all points. Thanks for the crit.

Just an update on imaginative face I did earlier. Tried to make it look better.

Wanted update this I wasn't concentrating on making it look like a photo. I wanted it to look like my own vision of the picture....lol that sounded a bit pretentious, but it's true.

Damn, that's a quick study?! How long do you work approximately on one of these(#206 or #205)? Nice hueshifts in the lighter parts of the face.

I gotta catch up on you on that matter. You're doing great at painting faces, man!

@LastGen: Thanks man #205 took a little over 2 hours and #206 took about 1 and a half hours. Atleast for me that's quick

I felt like doing a selfportrait, so I did just that. I did it in about 1 hour and 40 minutes and I quess I could've worked on it longer, but I just didn't feel like it. Anyway, I think it looks okay and I'm somewhat happy with it. I'll do better next time though.

cool self portrait mate, maybe try doing a study without relying to much on opacity jitter-
laying down clear and simple shapes(kind of like if you were painting with oils)and then
blend the edges as you see them.that just a little haggle I had because that self portrait is good
just the shapes are a bit unclear.
