Hello Everyone! I am looking for an artist for a literary magazine cover BUT you do not need to be an Art major in order to submit.
First Inkling is a new international literary print and online magazine, based in New York, publishing work from English language colleges and universities around the world.
We are looking for college, undergraduate and graduate, STUDENTS to submit a piece of their artwork and should we like it, we will ask for you to commission an art cover for us, usually based on the stories that are being featured in the current issue.
HOWEVER, if we did consider you but you did not make it on the cover, we will publish your artwork on our website and it will allow for a good opportunity because we are affiliated with numerous editors, graphic designers, other student artists etc.
We have no specific artistic style that were hoping for so anybody feel free to submit! Whether it's painting, ink, charcoal or digital. Don't worry, WE WANT IT!
If there are any writers, we have poetry, fiction, nonfiction, short stories, short films(screenplays), novel chapters...you name it, we got it.
AND for those who like to do a little bit of each, **drum roll please** we also accept GRAPHIC FICTION!!!
Please let me know if you are interested. You can contact me through Skype or through my page at http://welcomemylovelies.deviantart.com/
Thank you :)
Hi and welcome
Is this a free publication?
I'm not to sure what to with this thread. I don't know if it quite
fits in the criteria of the job section. I'm naturally cautious over this
kind of thing, especially when it comes to new artists.

I understand what you're saying. The magazine isn't a free publication but I didn't necessarily want to put it in the job section either because not everyone who might possibly submit something will get put on the cover or get paid, you know? So in a way it's more of a opportunity for most of the students to be represented by us.
So I wanted to see if anyone would submit art pieces and if the other people on the magazine like them and we would want them to commission something, we would have to contact them, either by email or phone etc. and go from there. If it helps, I can put the link to our website so people know exactly what they're dealing with
That does help thanks. Might have to field some more questions
from our members. Good luck in the new venture though.
