    KICKSTARTERS to watch

As I stumbled upon a few Kickstarter projects lately that where indeed worth the interest. I thought we should have a thread that promotes some of the more interesting projects.

But I would ask, that if you add something to this list,to be be honest and dont add crap, just really outstanding projects that are worth it, and if you want to promote your own stuff again be honest with yourself and think first if your stuff really is that outstanding. Plus I would like this mostly to be at least vaguely art related: this includes stuff that has either artwork in it or is based off artwork ( like Games) or is directly related to art like traditional paintings and/or music/film ...I guess you get the idea by now ^^ ( for example Ill post some CCGs next ...those are in here cause the card-artwork is made by seasoned professionals and quite outstanding)

to get you an idea first two projects that sadly are done allready but just so you understand the level of quality I would like this thread to aim for :

    Gerald Brom`s Artbook

Prime Wars Card Game from 3D Total

and on to projects that are currently on:

PURGE - Sins of Science CCG

    Old School RPG

Black Idol Comic - Peter Popken

And now feel free to add, and keep us updated.

    Seb

Japanese animation studio Production IG is working on a 10-minute short film, and also willing to prove to the current market that original animation projects ARE viable despite the recession.

I personally think that anyone who cares about animation as an industry should pitch in, just for the sake of sending a message. I don't even LIKE the concept that they're going with.

I really, really hope Elite: Dangerous gets enough backers. I loved all the previous Elite games.

I wanted to post this to CA for some time but I haven't because I remember certain Admins having a problem with people coming on to do nothing but plug their projects. Now that this thread exists, I finally have an excuse.

Here's the thingymajig I've been working on! <<<<<<<-------- Hyperlink because the colours aren't visible. And here's some work (Not mine) from it:

Elite: Dangerous - I hope this one succeeds. Frontier: Elite II was the main game I was obsessed about in my childhood. I was even drawing a fanart with some planets and space stations . Now they are making new one in the "Elite" series. It's going to have both singleplayer and multiplayer to choose from.

Thanks for these. I love watching kickstart projects.

A few of these I have seen, but Prime Wars looks really cool. I wish I could have helped back that one.

A Gallery of Rogues Kickstarter. I'm doing the art for this project. A sourcebook for table top gaming.

A Gallery of Rogues is a fantasy sourcebook of criminals and thieves working within a thieves guild that has been operating for years. The guild maintains a wide array of members, including at least one wizard and a few politicians — to keep things orderly and all that.

What makes this project unique, in addition to the levels the contributors can have within the guild itself, is that the size of the project actually grows. With each contribution (and with near-daily updates on where the project stands), the book may actually get bigger. The guild starts with 20 characters, but more members are added to the book, based on both milestones and contributor levels. Eventually, as many as 100 more characters can be added to the book.
Some of the art I'm doing for the book-

Intùiti Creative Cards - a deck of cards intended to ignite the user's creativity.

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...creative-cards

Intùiti is a deck of cards for Creativity.

It was born as a project of the Polytechnic University of Milan and it represents a new way of living the subject of creativity, an issue that is often superficially tackled. Instead of forcing the user to find an idea, as it happens with some techniques like brainstorming or the mind map, Intùiti invites to sit calmly and to feel what one has to give, remembering that creating must be a source of joy and satisfaction.

Intùiti proposes pointed suggestions, obtained from the analysis of classic tarots, that are a rich collection of archetypes. It has not an esoteric purpose: each card is related to a thinking model that belongs to our culture, a powerful incentive that can put in motion creative and inspirational processes.

Intùiti is a synthesis of Design, Tarots, Numerology and Gestalt Psychology. At the same time it is a serious game and a powerful tool that doesn’t treat the creative act according to rigid schemas, but it brings out its bright side.
Intùiti is composed of 78 cards and 78 tales (one per card) collected in a booklet, available both in italian and english.

In the pack you will find two series of pictures: the primary intùitis and the secondary intùitis. The first ones (bordered in black in the photos and indicated by Roman numerals) are extensive inspirations; the second ones (bordered in white) are more specific. To each picture corresponds an evocative tale that intensify its sensation.

Each card represents a powerful incentive and is designed using Gestalt principles so you can recognize emotionally the related archetype.

You can play as you feel best. There are no rules. It's a tool for creative thinking based on visual and imaginary associations, so you just have to shuffle the deck, pick a card, and "let it speak".

    3Doodler: The World's First 3D Printing Pen

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...d-printing-pen

3Doodler is the world’s first and only 3D Printing Pen. Using ABS plastic (the material used by many 3D printers), 3Doodler draws in the air or on surfaces. It’s compact and easy to use, and requires no software or computers. You just plug it into a power socket and can start drawing anything within minutes.

As 3Doodler draws, it extrudes heated plastic, which quickly cools and solidifies into a strong stable structure. This allows you to build an infinite variety of shapes and items with ease! Most people will instantly be able to trace objects on paper, and after only a few hours of practice you will be able to make far more intricate objects.

Skullgirls wants to continue work on planned dlc characters.
    http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ke...lgirls-growing

A fellow CA'er worked on Painwheel. Can't remember his name, though. Basically, they were partway through making the first dlc character, when their publisher got sued by Def Jam and had to lay folks off. Until the suit is worked out, the publisher can't do anything and investors are wary about giving money to a company that's being sued. They were allowed to look into crowd funding, in order to keep the team together, rather than having to seek other employment to pay their bills.

The game has wonderful, hand-drawn animations, which is nice, since the major 2d fighting games have moved to using 3d models. If you're a fan of 2d animation, supporting this helps keep some animators working on a quality project.

Edit: Dang, first goal met in under 24 hours!

Just saw one called Draw Like a Boss by Ash and Eli. They have a very slick video presentation. They also mentioned if they didn't hit there targeted goal, they would relaunch it.

I was a clean up artist for the game (did stuff for Ms. Fortune, Painwheel, Valentine, and Double, in that order) learned a bit about working digital and animation in the process (and stole a style quirk). But you're probably talking about a different person. I know there are other people here who did stuff. Now that they're starting Squigly I'll be doing a little bit of that as well.

Yeah, I was thinking of someone else. I remember seeing their sketchbook, a while back. Congrats on the clean up work.

Well, I'm a bit late to the party but these are the KS projects I've invested in:

    Anthony Jones (robotpencil.org)
    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...l-the-art-book
I've followed AJ for a while now, and was thrilled to to see him announce it. His goal was $9000 - it went to $55.7K. He added a bunch of extra goodies after it went so high.

    Nano Light: LED Lightbulbs
    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...icient-lightbu
Cool running high output/long-life LED light bulbs - this one just finished up today. $20,000 goal - $273,278 pledged.

    3Doodler: 3D Pen
    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...d-printing-pen
THIS is the one I'm really excited about. Won't get it until next year, though. $30,000 goal - $2,147,252 pledged.
You still have 16 days to get in on this one!

Still thinking about this one - will probably get it. Eliminates the need to tie shoelaces - and are reusable when your shoes/laces get old.
