    Sorensen's sketchbook

My name is Kristoffer Sorensen and I'm going to improve, watch me.

No more bullshit and silly excuses. This will be updated every day, unless I'm dead.

Any help on the road to success is greatly appreciated.

Some more stuff. I did these not too long ago and I already see loads of stuff that's wrong and easy to fix. Feels great!

And just to note: my understanding and use of color is pure garbage. I just recently stopped using the eye dropper for my colors. I can't believe that I didn't realize it until now how much it was hurting my progress.
The last one shows how I'm desperately trying to figure out the colors on my own.

Hi Kristoffer. I like what I see especially the digital pieces. I have to ask though, do you refer to the eyedropper as hurting your improvement when painting with reference pictures? In the end eye dropper is a really good tool when you draw from scratch and use own colors.

Something else. I have a brush config which sets brush opacity with pen preassure. this helps to blend colors in somewhat more nicely. This is because I see in your digital paintings many strokes that vary in contrast a lot from the ones right next to them (santa's hot helper's leg for example).

I like you stuff, keep it coming, check my sketchbook too. Cya around!

BEHOLD. You're about to witness us...

Dave'sWarmInsides: Yeah that's what I meant. And I agree with you on the last part as well.

Some more. Sorry for not adjusting the whites etc. It took me 40 minutes just to photograph all of 'em.

I've started doing sketches and quick gestures with a ballpoint pen. Chicken scratching and poor line quality has been a problem for me for oh so long. Time to improve, here we go!

Just some quick ones. I will be working on some projects for the next two weeks so I wont post as much. After those two weeks I'll try to post something every day.

Finally back after a long battle with tendonitis and carpal tunnel combined. Changed the first post and I would like to change the name of this thread, but not sure if / how I can do that.

As it says in the first post I'll be updating this every day. And I'll start off with what I did during these last 8 days:

    Day 9:

    Name: studyd9.png

Only soft round brush. No resemblance to the reference. Was supposed to be a 30min value block in, but it started getting fun so I kept going for two hours. After not looking at it for a while I see so many mistakes and how flat it looks in many places, but that's a good thing I guess, even more room for improvement..

    Day:10

More soft, more fun. It feels like I'm learning about- and understanding more about edge control by doing this. Not sure, but this took 1 hour 15min so a bit faster. And it looks nothing like the reference, I should post it, but I don't want to.

Glad to hear that you're doing better now. It looks like you've made some good improvement in that time! I like the knight study and the old boy study they both have a good character about them.

Keep it up man, I'm seeing some good improvement here!

As for line quality it just comes with lots of consistent drawing. Try making longer strokes when drawing. This forces you to control your pencil better.

Yeah! I'm working on using my elbow more and the wrist less. Will definitely try out some longer lines. Thanks for the advice : D
