I don't see how you can object to people having casual chit-chat and straying from the topic, if that's your problem. This is a forum. It's social. People chat. Im a giant fan of 70s and 80s films in that style. All silence and shoes clopping on the floors and th occiasional Lalo Shifren type noises. Dirty Harry, Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, Dawn of the Dead, Day of The Dead, The Evil Dead, Assault on P13, The Thing, you know the ones. Class action.
Please if you mention anything classic and zombie "Night of the Living Dead" is the godfather. The worst thing that happened to George Romero was getting money to make movies and having digital special effects to work with. Night will rule forever. Having said that I agree with you about 70s and 80s films. And Romero's Dawn and Day were great movies with perfect camp and social commentary.

Sorry was this thread about zombie movies?

yes I am very hostile right now

Don't try to play this down to be some bs like "being social" and "straying from topic". Nobody is stupid enough to believe that is what this is about.

This is about BULLYING, NAME-CALLING and HARASSMENT. It is not about that one thread, either, I can point out a hundred more of these examples. I expect more of all of you. I am absolutely disgusted at this sort of behavior. You never see professionals doing this kind of thing.

Youre right of course. I think it was the stark black and white stock that set it apart in my mind from the later, slightly more knowing colour movies. Its really raw. The graveyard at the start? Wow. I file Night with the really good Twilight Zones and Hitchocks Half Hours in my braaaaiiinnns

......... I'm now convinced that watching a good zombie movie would be 100 times more productive than continuing this thread.

And I haven't watched ANY of those yet! MY LIFE IS BARREN! D:

    I agree with this 100%.
George Romero has been on an unfortunate downward slope since The Dark Half (which did have some fun moments). Land of the Dead was entertaining and I liked some of the concepts, but to put it up against even Day of the Dead was difficult. It's amazing what he did was such small budget in the 60s and 70s, but these days all of his low-budget offerings (Diary and Survival of the Dead) are filled to the brim with awful CGI and miserable actors. I love his classic moves (and not just the zombie ones...Martin and The Crazies are two of my favorite movies ever), but I desperately wish he would retire from movies.

    Now....
If you guys have not seen movies by Lucio Fulci, I highly recommend them.
The Beyond, Gates Of Hell (aka City of the Living dead), House by the Cemetary, and Zombi 2 are simply some of the best horror movies of the early 80s. There is a cheese factor, definitely. And they are dubbed (because they are Italian...and all Italian horror from that time period was dubbed), but if you can watch them with an open mind you realize just how incredibly brutal and disturbing they are. Some of the goriest, nastiest moments from horror history come from those movies (and not in the "oh...this is just excessive toture porn nonsense like today's flicks).

    Yes....
This topic is now about zombies. Deal.

I find pseudoscience an interesting phenomenon. I think you are right: it is to some extent an attempt to inject more wonder into the universe, and it is strange considering the universe is already plenty wonderful. I notice though that they often have a very poor understanding of what conventional science actually says, thus many of their arguments amount to burning straw men. There is often also a generous dollop of paranoia involved, which I think goes hand in hand with a martyr complex. But of course, it is NICE to be a martyr, to be in some sense "special." They can then feel like a small elite who know the truth.

That's my contribution to pop psychology. I have been hanging around on anti-creationism mailing lists for years, so I have long experience with pseudoscience nuts. In fact, I probably deserve the title of autodidactical doctor of psychology. :-)

No, don't do that. Last time he was in court, the judge made him a doctor of physics. Next time he may well be beatified or something, and then there will really be no end to it. :-)

As for the complaints about the direction this thread took, I can see where Izi is coming from, but I must respectfully disagree. I would rather err on the side of free speech. Otherwise the whole board becomes like WetCanvas, where no one can speak his mind, not even in a polite manner. It eventually drove me away from there.

The OP is obviously delusional and should look up psychiatric help. You can't argue with someone who's out of touch with reality. He's just going to retreat further into his delusions, and I'm not sure if I think mocking him for it is making the situation better.

This happens outside of the lounge too. The lounge is just the worst part. Do you not know how bad this makes a forum look? Do you not know how many talented young artists will leave and never come back because there is valid competition to Conceptart.org? I am embarassed to be seen on CA because of this. Manley has already said two years ago the forums are not financially solvent. Do you think a forum of retarded flaming and trolling is worth all of the money pumped into CA?

Why would the board leadership want to foster this kind of turdfest? Does it make people better artists? Does it bring in money? Does it do ANYTHING useful?
The posters in the sketchbook forum are generally very respectful, considerate and helpful. If the OP's main intent really is to share art and commune with kindred artists, that's where he should be. His secondary motive seems to be getting respect from people for things OTHER than art, and nobody has to pander to that here. Just because the guy's such an easy target doesn't make him innocent. I think he said some pretty vicious stuff on the first page.

Zombies are both dead and alive. In this respect they resemble Schrödinger's cat, and as such I would think that guy with a Ph.D. in physics may well have some very interesting insights about them to share.

Zombies? Same as fairies. They suck weak minds because those are the only ones who believe in them. Good for scaring children and schizophrenics. Sort of like god. Can't be proven either way on the issues. I think tetrodotoxin is some gnarly stuff.

Prophecy? That's time travel. A good place to start understanding why things seem to go bump in the night is in Dr. Rick Strassman's work, the Spirit Molecule. I think he has some good theories (and some fluff) about NDE's. I think it also applies to dreams. Schizophrenia has recently been linked to an assymetrical hypothalamus. Sexual deviation has been linked to lack of pliability in what is essentially the arachnoid mater, or arachnoid membrane. That's like PVC with insufficient toluene or too much MEK.

Not being a real doctor got you down? Why not try this jargon generator, its fantastic for randomly assembling scientific-sounding phrases for impressing the credulous:

The critics are raving about it

    "Duplex anterior structures!" The Times

    "Comprehensive posterior circuitry" Daily Mail

Have you noticed crazy people don't mind if you call them crazy? Normal people, they'd object, and go and find sources to back their argument, or if that is impossible concede they cant make a strong case.

Nutters just ignore your questions and keep on firing words at you hoping some of it will make sense to you even if its just a whole casserole of nonsense inside their minds.

Listening to people talking about their delusions on Youtube, it sounds like being on acid. Thinking they're trees or that a chorus of voices are comnmenting on their every act, or that their loved ones are spies.. sounds exactly like a bad trip I had at a punk gig one time. I was sure that Russian chick with the spliff wasn't really Russian, and told her so a lot. The idea of being on acid without knowing it is so terrifying... jeez Louise.

Oh yes those are some great ones. I got to second or third base, can't remember now which, for the first time with my now wife during Zombi 2 (That's the one on the island with the eye poking scene in the closet?). Also farted in front of her and she laughed. Knew she was the one.

    Yes....
This topic is now about zombies. Deal.
That's understandable. The thread was hijacked by zombies, only of the simian variety. Why shouldn't we discuss their habits? (Sort of like elephants that stick their trunks up another elephant's bung hole for a bite of lunch... "Ummm... you gonna eat that?" Yeah. That's how elephants do...) The m'caca type, where the males play with the genitals of their inbred young boys. Fortunately they succumb to plasmodium knowles, so are on the endangered species list... only who cares? Macaca fascicularis are considered to be good singers... sort of.

This should allow for the largest I have of these images at the moment without re-scanning or even re-photographing them. I'll keep adding more.

    Sounds like something from DTABORT's.

Skinny little monkey boys should learn to read better before they disparage their zookeepers that hold the tazer. Maybe the skinny little monkey boy should join some monkey priest's skinny little monkey boy choir.
Doc, I don't have any kind of Ph.D. As I mentioned before, I'm slow on the uptake. Like there's a layer of supercooled helium choking what passes for my brain. So I cannot work out whether expressions like "DTABORT" are supposed to be grunts or expletives or acronyms or what. You'll have to explain.

What you have to remember Blogs, is that he's totally insane. You'll never get any sense out him till he takes his medicines.
We had a schizophrenic guy living in the house for a while, and until he stopped taking his meds he was an OK guy. Quiet, worked regular hours. After he stop popping his pills and refused to take them any more, and threatened to murder the landlord and the police took him away he was a lot like the Doc here. Delusions radically at odds with reality, confused scrambled thoughts, threats of violence and retribution by powerful unseen agencies, its all exactly the same. Played Heavy Fuel by Dire Straights 7 times in themiddle of the night (what a tune that is tho!) Dim the lights, and if you dare, join me in The Twilight Zone..
(I wrote this while he was still living with us but you get the drift)

The house where i live is kind of like the house in Hey Arnold. Its really cheap and there's all sorts of poor but lovely immigrant types living here, like multiple Chinese in one room, an old rasta claus, some Nigerians, some romanian lads, etc etc. I like it a lot. One of the people a is 40-something french algerian with some brilliant kind of brain damage. He talks constantly and often angrily to people who arn't there, refers to himself in the third person, has a fascination with mirrors, (more on that in a sec) and claims to have done 12 years in a Spanish prison after being framed up for a knife robbery he didn't commit. Massive scars on his face. Cool right? Convinced that if he sends enough emails to Barack Obama he will have his family's stolen fortune returned to him he once sent a load of emails full of crazy threats and Islamic names to the FBI and the CIA from my computer. I expect a drone strike is imminent. The other day he filled up the Henry hoover with water and left it outside till someone stole it and then accused us of framing him for it. The same day he also filled up all these bottles and threw them on the roof. Isn't he great!?

He absolutely loves a mirror, but they must never face him. When he comes home from work (he works in Jamie Olivers italian in Cambridge centre) he spends his time fixing up his room, noisily moving items about until all his junk is looking perfect. But his absolute favourite activity is to sellotape all the shiny mirror surfaces he can to his windows. He explained to me this is a lot like CCTV and he can make sure no one is invading the property or making a nuisance of themselves. In the middle of the image is a bean can lid. These mirrors periodically fall off and smash and he puts the glass in the toilet.

Here is one of thecryptic messages Fares sent from my email to the US Department of Justice, the FBI, the CIA and many others. he cant write so good so instructed me to write DRINK GRANDMOM ZERRKA and 40 AVENUE CARNO EL BEER on them, just to clear up any confusion.
I looked up avenue carnot in el bier, algiers, but the building he insisted belonged to him was now a bank.

This one was sent to the european court of human rights, without any explanation. when I asked what he hoped would happen, he assured me with a just you wait grin that they would soon return to him the vast wealth the swiss government was holding for him. i showed him that the swiss banks would run a check for any unclaimed accounts for 60euros and offered to stump the money if he could provide his fathers passport and death certificate but he said they were lost in the mists of time. Just got to keep sending these emails, he says.

I wrote to the universities he insisted his father had worked at, but the records departments could find no mention of him. It seemed like a good lead but it went nowhere in the end.

What better time to wash all your bottles in the shower
    Apparently it is "urgent."

As I was sending a large load of work to a client, the internet goes off: crazy Frenchy has kicked the plug apart. When I yell at him he explains it is because I have had 10 or 20 people in my room and their incessant jumping out of the window is upsetting the neighbours...

After he started getting really scary with the shouting and the knives, the police told us to keep a diary of stuff that happened.

    2011

    apparently stopped taking meds
stands in the kitchen having animated conversations with people who arnt there
sometimes waves the knife he is using to cut cheese on a chopping board around whilst shouting

persistently leaves his junk in the bathroom, no matter how many times he is asked to not do so

throws rubbish out of his bedroom window onto the drive

leaves the front door and windows all wide open all day and night. gets very angry if they are shut and opens them again.

removes the bathroom mirror and turns it tothe wall, often dropping and breaking it, does not like to see his reflection in any surface

glues shiny objects like cds and mirrors to his windows. the mirrors often fall off and smash. puts the glass in the toilet.

bangs on my door while im sleeping., shouts at me to keep the music down.

steals shopping trollies and bike-locks them outside the house

fills up 35 2 litre water bottles and throws them onto the roof of the house and the neighbouring house.
    the neighbour complains.

leaves hoover on the street where it is stolen, denies it, accuses other tenants

throws all the bug powder and cleaning stuff in the bin

loudly argues with imaginary people in the night,

says he spent 12 years in a spanish prison for an armed robbery he did not commit. says the police framed him,.

Konnie Gao leaves, says him running around naked terrifies her.

all the mail keeps being opened and thrown in the bin

washes toaster in sink whilst plugged in. doesnt believe me when i say this is very dangerous

washes hands with bleach, again does not believe me or the warning labels that this is dangerous. to be fair he seems unharmed.

    silent calls the police

keeps getting me to search the internet for informaiton about his father. he claims he was a millionaire, was murderd by conspirators, taught at oxford and cambridge.
inquiries to the universities turn up nothing.
sends incomprehesnsible emails from my computer to the US and UK governments

    2012
loses job, spends all his time in his room
loudly argues with imaginary people in the night

places LED bike lights along the top of his bedroom door, says they are cameras watching for intruders

stopped paying rent or helping with bills

steals shopping trollies and bike-locks them outside the house

silent calls the police again they trace the call and show up. they seem convinced he is normal.
Usually he calls the police and runs away, or says a crazy person is bothering him.

obsessively cleans by throwing buckets of water on the floor, carpets, and on the front window of the house. which is open.

5am rips the internet router from the wall and damages the plug. says it is because a neighbor who he refuses to name has seen many people in my room, who have been jumping from the window.

4am, loudly washes many of his belongings in the shower, says it is urgent.
4am removes everything from his room, then puts it all back, says it is urgent

Shouted he was never going to leave, would stab us and the land lord if anyone tried to remove him.

    Enough!

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.
