    Dear Critics...

I was just wondering If you have a piece of work you would like to be critiqued on but you don't really have any intention of going back to work on it, is it still ok to ask people for advice on how you could improve it.

I say this because I have posted here one or two times and got great responses back but I posted during the time I was actually working on the piece, so I got to try and apply the advice. I figured that's the whole point of posting in the critique section. Now I have a piece that I would like advice on though I have no intention of working it again.

Though I still want the advice for the future. Sorry if this has been answered somewhere I do search some things!

I have a deviantart but only use it as an online portfolio. It's Like storage ^^

Sounds fine. I would probably mention in my post that I'm not planning to go back into the piece but that I'm looking for critique for improving my future work. I don't think anyone would really care. I think you get more out of the critique if you try to improve the piece in question because you practice overcoming the problem and you can come back with the improved work to find out if your efforts were successful, but it's really up to you.

Of course - most critique happens after the piece is finished and is intended to help the artist see strengths, weakness, tendencies and opportunities in their work - for future development. Keep in mind it isn't about one individual piece...it is about your overall growth, awareness and development. Critique and analysis can happen for one individual piece, a body of related pieces or an entire oeuvre.

i know its probably cheating, but because of multiple photoshop files and 3d geometry, i often go back and play around with old work, or use something i did ages ago in something new.. nothing is ever finished, just in storage till i need it again and know a little bit more.
