Good place to find good fashion references?

I've been trying to find one for a while, and really the only real place I can seem to find them are in magazines, which are usually plump full of ads less so fashion and...cost.I go to a variety of places to find my references, like mug shots for faces, but I Can't seem to find anything with clothing ideas.

So Where do you guys go to get clothing design ideas/references for characters?

Outside in the street! Anyone can be good inspiration for something!
Any particular kinds of fashion you're wanting to look for?

Well not particularly just somewhere where I could find a wide variety. Outside is a good place to get a good understanding of basic street fashion but I don't think I'd find many people like this walking around http://www.plastikwrap.com/galleries/fashion/ I see alot of wild costume designs in character art ranging from reasonable to ware to fairly uncomfortable but cool looking. I'm looking for a place be it just a really big fashion gallery with alot of variation that I could feed ideas from, or a site that deals specifically with movie or video game fashion. Point being my clothing designs aren't all to creative and I'm looking for some place to get ideas from or just expose myself to different styles.

I signed my wife up for a bunch of free clothing catalogues. We ended up getting tons of them. Some of them had really good pictures for references. My favorite is the Peruvian Connection. http://www.peruvianconnection.com/

A lot of places have free catalogues, and there is just something about having a physical copy. You can put it in your art bag that you take wherever you go, and you have it when you need it.

Well the two most obvious place would be:

http://www.style.com/ > go to fashion shows and you get a list of all designers

    and:

http://www.thesartorialist.com/ > probably the most famous street fashion blog but there plenty of similar blogs just google them.

I've been finding a lot of inspiration on http://omgthatdress.tumblr.com/

That blog has a ridiculously massive collection of good clear images of fabulous outfits from the 18th century through the present... If you need to find reference for a specific era, you can use http://omgthatdress.tumblr.com/tagged/1920s (or whatever era you're looking for...)

The sister site http://omgthatartifact.tumblr.com/ has a lot of interesting odds and ends. No full costumes, but a fair amount of miscellaneous items from all cultures - things like weapons, saddles, boots, headdresses, masks, other paraphernalia.

Though I get a lot more of my costume inspiration from books. There's honestly a better selection of costume books than costume websites, and the books tend to have better images. Coffee table books of famous designers can be fun, and I collect any and all books on costume history. One of the best I have so far is Racinet's Complete Costume History.

Oh... And this is kind of fun to play with: http://www.polyvore.com/

OH and one more: For really fabulously off-the-wall fashion, try the "fashion" tag on Coilhouse.net... http://coilhouse.net/category/fashion/

This is just regular people out and about on the street, but Humans of New York (http://www.humansofnewyork.com/) is a great place to find photos of all kinds of people with all kinds of fashion.
