    Lightbulb Learning to Articulate

    Hello Everyone,

I'm Austin Lavelle, a Fine Art student Studying at University in the UK. Through my course I am developing critical thinking and art theory skills, as well as being able to experiment with a large array of concept and materials.
During the summer break after my first year I have decided to undertake a a journey to improve my ability to draw and paint; and where better to set off on this venture, then Conceptart.org.

Lets share this amazing community, Thanks

    Figure study WIP

This is a work in progress, from memory/imagination. Trying to practice my proportions, as well as using tone to sculpt and add a sense of real form.

    Hey man; really good start!!

Hands are such a pain to get 'right'; but it's an awesome practice to sketch them from all different angles and lightings (something I should really try; my hands look like stringbeans sometimes!!)

    Look forward to seeing more!

Mortiroth: Thanks very much for taking the time, the encouragement is much appreciated ha 'Stringbeans'. I was kind of the same, so i started drawing lots of them as seen here, it helped alot. Now i can just conjure them up from my mind

I suppose its true what they say, Draw, then draw some more hehe

Welcome to CA! Its good that you switched to working on a 50% grey. I would suggest doing some vale studies in order to get better at painting and just shading in general. Heres a nice tutorial on it http://www.ctrlpaint.com/sketching-value/ . Good luck and keep posting =D

    Come back

Its been a long time though coming back into my final year of university I decided to try and really hone my drawing skills. Im hoping to include some comic panel work in my final year project and so heres the plan:
To complete Spartan, Panel of the week, and character of the week or environment of the week (depending which I fancy) every week.
Here is my ease into spartan figures, cheers
