I like how you are handling the environment in this, good separation of values and hues. Animals legs are always a challenge for a wildlife artist. It is important to either shoot enough ref to get exactly what the artist wants or know enough anatomy to draw them correctly in the way they need them for the design of the image. In this case their placement is a little confusing. Gesture studies are your friend, and should be done after the composition thumbnails so you can get the action and pose even at rest and then let the ref inform the details you need to take it to the next level.
