The last several days have been a little rough for me. I was basically just sitting around questioning if I'll ever be good enough, if my parents are right and I should look for an alternative, blabluhbla...
That happens from time to time, and I'm having a hard time picking myself up when it does. I feel so lame for knowing that I wasted valueable time, but was unable to do anything productive.
Buuut I guess it's over for now, so back to drawing every day!
Do what you love doing best and your passion will carry you.
"Observing the world around me"
I wanted to do more today, but I'm tired and my eyes are hurting rather bad. The figures are all kinda distorted, especially the male one. Tiredness sucks.
On the positive side, I got an internship at the local theater that I'll start the end of next month, which I'm sooo looking forward to!
Couple gestures. I found the last one really interesting, so I spend a couple minutes on it. It also inspired the color sketch, which I'll plan to finish tomorrow. And now that I typed it on the internet, I actually have to do it.
Random Speedpainting and update to the wip. I redid the skin and it looks worse now. Looks like I will have to make some skin studies next. After I learn how to mix colors properly...
Also I'm unsure if I should keep in all the stuff I added? Seems off somehow.
it seems that you got a good handle on the shading.
@Calvin1987: Thank you! You should put a link to your Sb thread in your sig if you got one, so that I can secretly stalk you!
Somehow I'm now able to almost draw straight lines. It's awesome! I don't know how or when it happened though.
But hey, no more using rulers for perspective studies, so I'm not complaining.
Love seeing your progress you've made!! Just looked at your entire thread. Love love your portraits, and some pieces you've done that capture muscle... beautiful. Keep up with those gesture drawings. I really like the personality you put into the piece with the girl pushing the monster into the closet. So cool. Keep it up!
@magicnmyth: Thank you so much for looking and the encouragement. It's greatly appreciated.
I'm dumping two sketches today for things I want to work on shortly. I also finished my Icarus painting, and although I'm not all that satisfied (skin...blarg...) I just needed to get that off the table for now. I'll keep in mind that I need to pay more attention to color mixing/choosing though, and I will do studies of skin more often.
Also did another selfportrait and played with layer settings in photoshop. It now looks weirdly expressionistic, but for a 30 minute thingy it's good enough for now.
Hey, thanks for stopping by at my sketchbook!
I'm loving the one with beef jerky in his hair, the line thicknesses really can make a difference.
@GiroFide: No problem man. Thank you for the encouragement!
Only gestures today. They're boring to look at, but my job and the internship keep my busy and it's all I can fit into my day for now. They are getting easier though. When I started doing them regularly, I could barely finish one pose. Now I do them 90 seconds each, and it seems like that is waaay too much.
I like it a lot you have ton of potential, and very sharp eye, keep it up.
My internship in the theater workshop has ended. It was an interesting time, and although most of what I got to do was the easiest stuff, they also let me mix colors a bit and made me paint some props. The photos are of a door and a gravestone I did, both about 1.5 meters big on a wooden panel. Not the most exciting, but it's a start.
Also a quick oil sketch and some color mixing exercise.
Someone recommended doing thumbnails to me. They take more time then I thought, but I'll continue to do them anyway. Somehow, remembering that I need a fore-,middle- and background is harder for me than it should be. Hm.
I had more, but the uploader won't take the other stuff. Not sure why, and too tired to find out right now.
