    Figure Drawing

    Hello everyone!

I am new to the forums still and I wanted to showcase my current work so far. I am trying to hone my skills and would greatly appreciate some insight/mentoring if possible.

The below pictures are assignments I did for Figure Drawing. It was my first time figure drawing and actually drawing anatomy, and I feel there is so much to learn. The instructor had us copy two Old Master drawings, as you can see in the first two images.

No takers or responses? I'm willing to learn everything I possibly can to better my artistic ability. Traditional, digital, 3D, environments, character design, matte painting, anything.

I think you know that the feet are still a weak point.
The feet studies are the best yet.

Try to draw some from the mind so you get a better understanding how to define the shapes you see when figure drawing.

Thank you very much Uzel. The first set of feet are my own and I just looked at and drew, the 2nd were my 4 yr old son's feet in different positions.

I'd have to agree about the feet, but I should maybe practice hands too. Thanks for the link!

Good job. Copying the work of masters is a great way to go. A way I have found helpful to incorporate that into my work is to copy something steadily, interspersed with practice from life. If you do that regularly, you'll advance very quickly... As an example:

(30 minutes or more a day)

Day 1-do copies of a particular thing you want to learn (such as hands, copy an artists drawings of hands).

    Day 2- more copies

Day 3- draw hands from life

    Day 4- copies

    Day 5- copies

Day 6- draw hands from life.

After the first week or two, you'll draw less copies, and draw more hands from life. Draw yours, draw your friends, go out and draw in coffeeshops and such, or go to life drawing sessions. Start with one piece, and branch out into other things. Once you get the hang of hands, as an example, draw lots of full figures (including the hands) so you can get a feel for how they attach to the whole.

Keep up the good work, you're doing well.

I self-published a book on the fundamentals of drawing from life.
