Hey man, keep up with the work. If I can offer one constructive point, try to see the variety in color. Next time you go out and look at grass, see the yellows in the grass, see the blue in the grass. Look at grey concrete, in the shade it is purple, in the sun it is yellow. Look at the sky, it is not just blue. It is also red and yellow and purple.

The same goes for a red fish and blue water.

Look for the variety in life, and that will inform and improve your paintings.

    Keep up the good work!

Not the first time i get that crit - I'll try to do a transparent purple wash in the shadows and pinks in the highlights.(is no orange hue in highlights - cool/daylight TL's)

I did a test run in photoshop.

I'll write "need more cowbell(color)" on my easel.

I'm thinking doing still life with a color checker to train my eyes in recognizing color.
    Any other ideas for exercises?

Did a pastel landscape last wednesday.

Regarding exercises to help you see color:

I haven't tried it, but I read about an interesting approach taken by somebody else. They got some strips of color. A piece of paper that is green. A piece of paper that is blue, etc. And they would take them outside and put them next to things. Put the green paper on the grass in the sun, put the green paper on the grass in the shade, and notice the difference. Notice how much yellower the grass actually is than the green, or how close the sky is to green in parts, or whatever. By taking the strip of whatever color and observing various things and lighting situations around, it can help your eye to compare that things are not just green, or not just yellow... but are a variety of colors.
