Have been working my way through some assignments on the Crimson Daggers forum.
At the moment I'm working on one to draw 3 digital line portraits of each ethnicity and each gender (36 in all), so far I've completed Caucasian, Asian and Black people.

Sweet progress mate. Love your Snowcrash interpretation, really put a nice a visualization on Y.T! I also really like your hands against light studies, great contrast and pretty inspiring.
Sounds like a very good idea to focus on your fundamentals and I'd suggest working more on your backgrounds/environments and maybe to integrate characters into a scenery. Because I'm not seeing much of it in your imaginary work.
While I think that you handle cloth very well as a texture, you could benefit from some metal studies! Keep it going man

Thanks Bjulvar, appreciate the advice. Integrating backgrounds with characters is certainly something I've identified an area I need to work on, I'm working on a piece just now which hopefully show some improvement in that area, as well as the other areas you mentioned.

A few quick landscape studies I made this afternoon.

Your skin tones and portrait construction are excellent on this page, keep doing studies and I'll do the same.

Cheers for the comments and encouragement guys, always appreciated.

The results of my second Crimson Daggers assignment.

Five line drawings of objects on my desk which I can lift, and a painting of one object.

I found this a lot tougher than the portrait assignment, I'm not too good at objects it seems. May attempt this assignment a second time.

A portrait of wrestler CM Punk of the WWE.

Try to give this a bit of a Dishonoured game art style look to it.

My figure drawing is an area which I've identified needs a lot of work. I'm now trying to push myself to commit to at least a half hour to some figure studies every day.

These are some from earlier today. Advice and feedback welcome.

Trying to get back into doing more imaginary stuff, after several weeks of studies. Intend on perhaps spending the next month or so working on character concepts and illustrations.

Still need a lot of work on refining and improving my imagination based work.

Awesome sketchbook, very motivational! I love the portraits and figure drawings
It's interesting to see how you used your reference for your last illustration.

    Keep up the great work!

    Cheers for the comments guys.

Been a few weeks since my last update. Just been working away on some contract stuff, and I have recently started a portrait mentorship at Crimson Daggers, under concept artist Suzanne Hemligh.

    Here's some recent studies.

I am really inspired by your digital paintings (and the rest of course ) the every day objects are really vibrant, I enjoy seeing what you see in those objects, reflected in your colours and moods.

Really wonderful stuff in here. Your injection of color in your studies is great. It's a challenge to train yourself to not be afraid to put a color in if you see it (points to self). Please, keep it up and keep posting!

Hah! Totally found you on CA! A lot of your portraits, while very nice, have crooked features: Eyes that aren't on level, nose and mouth don't match up, chin slightly off center, one side of the jaw bigger than the other etc etc.

They're really nice pieces, just take better care when constructing the face and they'll be awesome pieces!

    Nice job!

    - Current project <- Crit away!
    - The Whyatt Sketchbook Any tips appreciated
