I'm moving this to the Lounge. Your site doesn't have any art at all on it, and the front page is not exactly aesthetically pleasing - the white van?! You really should have something to sell before going live.

I have no comments on your business model, but for a site devoted to selling visual content, your design is spectacularly ugly. You'll probably have a much better chance of getting people to supply content without something that screams web templates + clipart.

Thanks for the critique. The site is not templated, it's been built from scratch. I'm a programmer by trade and design is definately not my strong point. While I don't agree that it is "ugly" I know it can definately be a whole lot better looking!

It's functional at the minute, and we are offering a fantastic service. We just need some images to get ourselves up and running!

Maybe you ought to begin by looking at the other 1000+ sites selling prints the same way you want to and checking out how they go about it.

All the other print selling sites either don't manufacture the prints or charge you money for uploading.

I believe we are the only site at the moment that makes and distributes the pictures but does not charge artists for uploading their images or keep 100% of their selling price. People can upload with no financial risk and don't have to worry about dealing with customers. Plus we will be selling offline too, but that's another story.

I'm not infallible though and could have missed a site that does all this. If it exists I would love to know the URL so I can nosey at the competition!

I can take critique and learn from it. Some of what has been said I agree with and if someone doesn't like the site then that's fine. It is what it is.

Now I notice the edited tags. All I can say is wow. It wasn't helpful or expected but I've thick skin.

If you don't want to help then fine, but I'm sure there will be forum members who will appreciate what we are trying to achieve. At least I know this is the case on some photography forums where the feedback has been positive and constructive.

From my initial idea we have grown in to a small group of people determined to make this a success. It would be great if you could be part of it too.

Tags have been removed. Can't promise it won't happen again, as threads are open to tagging by any member.

Approach a few artists and get a couple on board to start with. Make your site look like a site art lovers want to browse instead of a courier service. Don't worry about the tags. I didn't ban you and moved you here because you need help. We're a bit rough at times, but mainly honest.

I think that the idea is good. I admit I looked at your site the other day when this was posted in the artists looking for work section, but I was turned off by the sterile design. Also there was no art visible at the time. There are some wording problems in the terms and agreements that cause some ambiguity of rights. It doesn't specify what legal jurisdiction you're operating under either.

I hear what you're saying. I may also redesign elements of the site too. A lot of people on other forums aren't sure exactly how it works (ordering wise) so while you can't browse images I've put on an example image of how the process works here.

We're UK based so will have that added to the terms. Thanks for the pointers

That is not true. I have been approached by too many which have the free loading thing and all you have to do is wait for the dough to come rolling in. It's a good idea but there are really a lot out there like arenhaus says.

I can't begin to express my annoyance when web sites try to display 50 different kinds of fonts on a page.
