Changing colors on the fly while painting
I'm new to digital painting and have seen some tutorials where the artist (Using Photoshop) changes colors while he is painting (without selecting the color or swatch palette). This looks smooth and natural and sure is a time saver, instead of having to stop painting to move your cursor to the palette.
Now, I've seen in the new version of Photoshop has a pop up color wheel which is handy, but this is not what I'm talking about.
Is there a shortcut or keystroke that allows the artist to choose a color on the swatch palette without having to stop painting and interupt the work flow?
Thanks in advance!

can you post a video example of what you're referring to?...
it sounds like they are picking colors off canvas (hold alt while clicking when using brush/mixer brush tool), but I'm not really sure.
