    IDW #211 - Field Operations Pod


    Topic: Field Operations Pod
    Deadline: Sunday, July 29

    You are designing a component for a first person shooter style game. In the game is the base of operations for the field missions is a standalone pod that can be deployed to an area of relative safety near the action. The time period is up to you (current day-gazillion years in the future).


    Brief:
    1. Design and draw the Field Headquarters Pod.
    2. That's it... now draw!

    Progress on the Pod

    I liked the my first idea and sketch #20. So here goes nuttin.

    Great starts everyone! Keep them coming

    I'll try to get more work done this afternoon but tonight I'm going away for 6 days so I think I can't finish this one. But I'll finish this one for myself anyway.
    -
    Here's my pod. It's shot out of the mothership and lands/shoots into the ground. The lower part is fortified so it can handle the impact.

    The bottom has 4 flaps that will push the pod 1 or 2 meters from the ground. This way the pod can use his engines to fly away to a safer place or back home. In the sketch the engines sticks too much towards the bottom, this way it is too vulnerable for impact-damage so those have to be placed a bit more into the pod.

    EDIT: Here's another update. I was too busy to get somewhere near a final or a beter view of the pod. I'll try to finish this piece when I'm back home again
