" The ruthless falcons and the magical dust " made me lol

The lamest names are always the best. ;D

Also on a side note, i know i'm abit late into the squad but what are your guys basic thoughts on the genre of the topic? Like sci fi, fantasy, horror, etc etc. I think once we have a certain theme or genre, it will be alot easier to start collaborating references and finding related materials we can bounce ideas off and start brianstorming and stuff.

I'm prity easy really. My initial thoughts are of alien planets with crazy fauna and creatures and stuff. So i guess the more sci fi route is what first comes to mind.

Then again usually the first ideas are the worst because there the most obvious. What are your guys thoughts?

If we go Sci Fi, I always like this sort of thing. Tell me what you think.

Ancient Race of highly advanced beings leaves behind technology, and a guardian to protect it. For whatever reason, whether they ascended to higher being, or just died off, they left a guardian to protect their ancient secrets of technology.

This guardian tests those who seek the ancient knowledge and will kill those he deems unworthy. No one who ever sees the ancient city and is deemed unworthy has ever returned to his/her race.

Those who are found worthy (whatever those criteria are) are welcomed into the city and may take the knowledge of one item back with them.

Well with Vulgar's declaration of Truth, I vote we go with Tredminsters of the Brushymarsh as our team name.

    All in favor?

    Aye.

With a quick vote we can get on to more important topics like nailing down genre, era, guardian concept, etc.

I was thinking about this Guardian idea, and what if this guardian was Half Organic half machine, like the Ancients fused one of their own with a giant ship that orbits in space. That way the ship/being has a humanoid form as an avatar, and the ship as the repository for the knowledge.

That giant ship could then guard both the knowledge and the home planet the ancients lived on. Maybe it could be by a dying star.

Some visuals, a small individual in the middle of a large expanse of a ship, with a light at the vanishing point.

A picture of the Guardian being with the ship in orbit above him, the ship is so big it can be seen from the ground easily. The ruins of a technological city in the background.

The Guardian cruiser orbiting it's charge planet. With smaller ships moving up into range, exploring it.

Team name has been changed don't forget to change your signatures to match

I like the idea of the leftovers of an ancient alien race. But I can't get the thought of the chozo from the metroid series out of my head. Even leaving a guardian behind to protect an advanced piece of technology, sounds like the God of War guarding the Varia Suit in Zero Mission. I think we can play with some ideas though.

Of course we could always try a different approach, as well.

I'm gonna try to get some rough enviros sorted out to put some ideas down. Might as well work of some character and creature silhos too....

    flame_unquenchable: like the story

some back story to that... may be?

Winter night is approaching as it once approached the earth 100 years earlier. Most of the rich human race were transported the Planet “Yulium” (we can call it whatever we like). Now once again that night with intense winter is approaching at Yulium, It will be so cold that everything on Yulium will be sunk in the blizzard of color full winter, Special suits are being made to keep the civilian safe and are marketed everywhere. “Amanay” and “Applpe” merged and produced such suits. The natives of Yulium are planning to get the suit by force they are marching to the humans; to survive humans need to Guard the suits and technology.

I was never really into Metroid so I don't get the reference, but if it's been done in a game, maybe we try to tweak the ideas some.

I can keep pumping out ideas but once we get something pinned down it will be easier to focus our efforts on landscaping, technology, what the guardian looks like, etc.

Maybe we take Sony's idea and merge it with mine, the Ancient Alien Guardian is left to watch over a younger race, a race that doesn't know the guardian exists, and are basically the progeny of the Ancients.

Sort of Stargateish, but that Guardian could wake up when the younger race is attacked to keep them from being wiped out by another more advanced race.

    really liked that Flame_Unquenchable

the human made pact with a clan of native of "yulium" and they are guarding the humans, i don't know how humans made the pack what are their interest/ may be they are rivals thats why they are protecting human, as humans have landed on their side and brought silicon from earth which is very usefull to them. or may be water etc etc

    what you guys say?

    found some inspirations

Ok, so with ideas in mind, I had this little story forming...

I am Treeva, second son of Iames. We are the third generation of humans to be born after the great ravaging. Earth is gone, and we do not know if any other humans survived the holocaust of the Churians. All we know is Yulium, and the Yuliari are our hope to rebuild. They say that the being only known through rough translation as 'Sentinel' guards them. He is their god and protector, and through our oath upon their sacred stone, now he is ours. We are pledged to follow his laws or be repelled from this garden world we now call home. We only hope that this Sentinel is as powerful as the Yuliari say, because we dread the day when the Churians will find us once more.

Do you guys like the idea of the Guardian protecting both it's people the Yuliari, and the remnants of Humanity on the planet Yulium?

If so there are some things we should work out.

Do the humans/yuliari dwell in the technological cities?
Are those cities forbidden to them, if so do they dwell near them?
Are the ancient's cities hidden, via cloaking, or something?

What form does the Guardian take?
What type of planet is it? Is it a Star Wars planet, single climate, or a terrestrial planet like Earth with lots of different climates?

The humans in this story are obviously capable of space travel, are the Yuliari? What technological level are the native people?

Do we want a space environment as well as a terrestrial?

Which of the areas do we want to attack? Character, creature, environment, indsutrial, panel, illustration?

I am on with the concept it seems very organic and exploratory!
    LETS ROCK!

Do the humans/yuliari dwell in the technological cities?
I think as the humans are protected by the sentinel guard/team of guards/battalions of Yulium native(Yuliari), the human must be smarter than them, and mentally superior to them, they are the beasts savages they should be look like that they can kick Churians ass!!! As it the third generation the archiecture should hint some input from humans but mainly the original should be from yuliari.

Are those cities forbidden to them, if so do they dwell near them?
Not at all humans should be part of it by now.

Are the ancient's cities hidden, via cloaking, or something?
As a new home it should have some/lots of/huge mysteries for human to explore

What form does the Guardian take?
    SAVAGE BARBARIANS!!!

What type of planet is it? Is it a Star Wars planet, single climate, or a terrestrial planet like Earth with lots of different climates?
I think restricting the climate will be iconic but change is good too. hmm terrestrial planet is a must i think humans will be comfortable in such climate.

The humans in this story are obviously capable of space travel, are the Yuliari? What technological level are the native people?
No! thats why they need humans, "brains" /intellectual part of human is what makes them friend

Do we want a space environment as well as a terrestrial?
could go for both, but in that case we need to show humans progressing with the technology

Which of the areas do we want to attack? Character, creature, environment, indsutrial, panel, illustration?
as we will be 5 members we have to do all 6 things, my suggestions are we start with moodboards and towards the thumbnails for environments first as we will explore the place (yulium) yuliari will be next!

*will update the logo soon guys need your feedback asap!

b/w Treeva is female name need to change that!

You guys are doing great, lots of activity going on here!!

I still haven't recieved word yet. If still nothing I'm content with 4 members, if that's the case I don't really care for the panels so much (personally), but if someone else wanted to do the panels, then we'd have to discuss what else to leave out instead. Or we could do everything if we wanted....

As for the other questions, I'm pretty open, though for the Guardian, It could be a separate alien species, or even an automaton like being.

I'd much prefer a terrestrial planet like Earth, makes things a bit mroe interesting, plus it leaves a little more freedom with the environments, rather than everything being a desert, or ice, or forest.

The Yuliari could work as more of a primitive race with very minimal technology, or even in more of a mechanical point in technology rather than super advanced.

did a few head concepts for some alien races...
1-quite a generic alien head, could experiment with other things
2-hostile race, very bug-like I could experiment with a more humanoid body type, or something more creature oriented, had the Yautja in mind for the jaws for this beastie
3-was thinking of a more amphibious creature, something like a whale-man
4-reptilian-like alien, this one could use some work, could still be a fantasy creature
5-my fav of the bunch, hostile race like number two, though less buggy, loosely inspired by the xenomorph and even venom, once again this guy could be worked with a humanoid form or more of an animalistic body, I think a raptor like body would look neat on this guy, I was also thinking a feathery crest would look neat as well.
6-for this one I wanted more of an intelligent looking being, was thinking catfish like whiskers would give it more of an 'old and wise' look, also the squinty eyes were added to be like the 'old kung-fu master'...
7-re-design of number 3, made it more reptilian
8-re-design of number 4, still looks too fantasy, but I can still play with these designs

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!
