    Ralvar's Journey

Welcome! Բարի գալուստ! Bienvenue! Willkommen! ようこそ! to my sketchbook on conceptart.org

My real name is Robin Blicker (22) and I would like to share my progress during the next few months/years. Right now I'm a student and have a lot of free time I'm spending with getting better at 2D art. I'll post lots of different things on here...sketches, studies, wip's and of course finished paintings. Critiques are highly appreciated!

I'm starting with a few recent paintings I did, so you have something to look at and hopefully be able to see a progress in my future paintings

I like the giant carrier insect concept, and the black and white creature in your latest post is an another stand out for me. Honestly not too sure what to say in the way of critique, you seem to have a good idea of where you're going...

Thanks, man. Glad you like 'em.

Did some analog studies and game-object concepts in the last few days. Here's some of the presentable stuff. I also started modeling one of the weapon concepts in 3d. Has been quite a while since I touched a 3d program

Oh wow this is a fantastic start to a sketchbook. Your sense of color and value is already really really good, I love the environments you've put up -- particularly the latest painting, the thumbs, and that last one on the first post. I also really like the bug-carrier concept, and the knight. the texture studies look really neat, too. I wish I had crits to add to this gushing ahhh but I'm coming up blank. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for this sketchbook in the future!

Thank you both for those kind words! I really appreciate it. Makes me much more confident about my work

Redesigned an old character concept for a school project I created 3 months ago. Two more redesigns to go till next wednesday.

    Hey there.

Some very nice stuff going on here!

As you already know: I really like your renderings most. You have a very nice understanding of how color and values work and function. The redesings you did show very nice improvement as well. So keep on drawing!

I am looking forward to seeing more works from you.

    Gur Ghen

ps: Would love to see some mechanical and architectural stuff from you. I am pretty sure that your range would expand a lot through that. But there is a time for everything I guess

Feel free to visit my sketchbook and give me some advice!
    Thanks!

Thank you, guys. I do my best

This is redesign number two of three. Looks kinda like a completely new character, but I really had to get rid of that "cute" look. Tried to keep elements like the big shoulder plates and the long arms. Also the magic is now inside his body and not floating between his head and his shoulder plates. Anyway...guess I should move on to the next redesign instead of bothering you with explaining my painting

Since I had huge problems with my third redesign I decided to start using my sketchbook again and to do some portrait studies. For me faces are extremely difficult to paint Wanna fill a few pages with studies similar to these in the upcoming days.

Doing some more portrait studies right now. Here's an update of the previous posted page, as well as an environment study
