    Homesteaders- A scrt_Agentman project

I was inspired by Suave77's jet-moto redesign enough to start a personal project of my own. The name of the project is Homesteaders and it revolves around some people in the future travelling to and colonizing an agricultural planet.

I hope this will give some framework to my drawings. Hopefully having a story will help with my designs. I know I'm technical skill isn't great but hopefully that will improve over the coming year once I start college.

The first thing our colonists have to have is a way to get to their new home. These are some ship concepts for hauling the colonists from earth to their destination.

I haven't decided on a final design yet so its just thumbnails for now.

For the planet based vehicles I collected old and new sketches. I know I have to narrow it down, when I do, I'll put up a final rendering.

Characters, props, and creatures will be coming later.

Here is a concept for the planet Aegeon (Ay-jee-on). I started with a picture of a landscape in Kansas and went from there. The main city is at the bottom

A little about the planet- It is a small world made up of terraced grasslands and savannas. The climate is temperate with hot summers and cool winters.
Over millions of years strong winds and lack of major tectonic activity have kept the landscape mostly flat. Mountains are scarce and located only near the seas. Life is relegated to small to medium sized animals. Most life forms are subterrainian with the exception of mammal like creatures that roam the plains. Mosses and fungi are the most prevalent plants on the planet with tall grass making up the rest. Trees are nearly non-exsistant.

Having fun isn't it? But the topic seems a little boring cause you don't have a problem to solve.

I think I'll go the starship troopers route and have the colonists fighting some arachnid like creatures. Basically their native creatures to the planet previously undiscovered until some mining operation stirs them up and they surface.

here some more creature silhouettes and ideas. I'm having trouble narrowing down designs for final animals so let these sit and get to work on the characters.

Well those are more likely, but you need to know the environment where they should live before thinking about the creatures, this is why you're having an hard time i guess.
