    Character design ny Divinefap1

Hello! This is my first thread in the forum - I'm not even sure if this post is going to the right place, but here it comes. Few of my characters. The centaur is pretty much close to finishing but the oxman was made in 30 minutes. Critique welcome and much appreciated. I'm working on the coloring. I'm really bad at it. I'm also red-green colorblind, so that makes it a small challenge.

If anyone knows some great coloring/color theory tutorials, please share

    Thank you

    -Kaj

I don't think you should worry about coloring right now, i can see some major problems on perspective, anatomy, linework and value separation. Those are much more a priority than coloring, at the exception of value separation those are the basic for someone that wants to do concepts, you should learn those to perfection before thinking about rendering, cause the rendering very secondary if you have troubles with basics.

Hey there! Thank you for your comment.

Due to my bad english, I don't know about this value thing you are talking about. Can you give me a more detailed information on it? I'd highly appreciate it and would get working on trying to fix the issue

On the rest, I'm working on them. I'm still really young so there's time to learn. Hard working!

Sure, apparently no one knows what value separation is anyway. I'll do a piece for my blog on the next days but in the mean time here's something that might let you know better what we are talking about: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...07&postcount=9

If you want to make a career in concept art or illustration or whatever visual thing you may want to do then your young age is an advantage, not something that you should use as an excuse if you know what i mean

Hey thank you a LOT. I've been thinking about this value issue a lot in my head last 3 days and I think I've learned a lot by just looking at some great digital art. Trying out new things on PS right now. Nothing fancy to show out. But thank you a lot! More tips welcome. And yeah, wasn't mean to be an excuse, but as you said, an advantage.

Quick 15 minute sketch about values. Had to try it, I'm working out at the moment and had to take a quick pause to try values. I think I got the rough idea right, but the sketch itself is what it is

It's too light, keep yourself between 50% grey when you're making exercises so you can go all the way down to 100% black or all the way up to 100% light in the scale if you need.
