    IOW #30: Dark Fairy Tale

Illustration of the Week #27: Dark Fairy Tale

This is a one week topic.

    Topic
This weeks topic is Dark Fairy Tale.
It is time to do something slightly different. Instead of illustrating a fairy tale like it is, with happy ending and all, you're going to give it a dark twist.
You can decide whether to have it pretty obvious or rather hidden.
Just make sure something is off and that your image gives the feeling that something isn't quite right.

The viewer should be able to easily discern which fairy tale you're illustrating.

    Deadline
The deadline is Sunday 15th of July, 23:59 GMT

you know, a lot of fairy tales are really dark to begin with...so we just make them even darker?

Yep, but more in the sense off the good in the story being dark or twisted. Basically give it the feeling that there's something really off about the illustration of a "normal" fairy tale.

Fun topic! Will be interesting trying to do this without being too cliched or too dark. I sketched something involving Red Riding Hood but I'm going to scrap it and try something else.

    A WIP

Count me in too! Thought I'd go for traditional media with this one. Here's a very rough image before I start with the watercolors.. And a thumbnail I had drawn before that. I hope its easy to figure out which fairy tale this is after I'm done with it

    Very cool topic!

Here's my wip so far. After his 2 brothers were eaten by the big bad wolf, the third pig got an unhealthy obsession with wolves in general.

Hi Stryno, have you uploaded your work on another page?

Varguy: So far so good, it looks great! Gotta learn to render images like that someday

Waiting to see everyone else's entries!

Aaand it was after I uploaded this that I find errors here and there :| But I'm calling it done. Will keep an eye out for errors next time round. This is the final image after some photoshop clean ups.
