Obstefelter I agree, attached them better, threw shadows under them. I like all of your concepts, though admit I like the middle one best.
    Agent Melon Thanks!
    Pitchblack Thanks.
Naidy The feet look much better.
Rayna Yes, the legs and hips are more natural.

So many great designs...This week is turning out great.

More progress on the wings and mask. Worked on the jewelry bits. I'll be the first to admit the detail portion always takes me ages. Not sure if I'm happy with the color of the wings yet. I might drop them back to a more orange-gold tone.

Looks like Alexanderjr and I had similar ideas about a goblin with a plague doctor mask.

Thought I'd post a WiP to see if anyone had any ideas of how I can improve.

Going to add more to his outfit, just laying down basic colors at the moment. I wasnt diggin the whole 17th century getup, so I'm going to go for something more from his homeland I suppose....just realized his foot on his knee is wrong... back to work!

Work in progress! I'm probably going to redo the horse part altogether after I find good reference, as of now I'm having a lot of trouble with it.

Spastic Potato The front of the horse seems fine, but I think the problem lies in that the back end needs to be swung back and to the left so the back hips align with the front hips. The line of the back is too low as well.

Update. I'm not sure if there's anything else I plan on doing, or if I'm just going to move on to the character sheet...

    Prepsage: haha. poor guy.

TheLuvableNerd: it's so fluffy! The one without the mask works best.

Dryleg: You could maybe move the mask to the other side so we can see his expression better?

    Alexanderjr: Interesting shading technique.

    Pixeltuner: Sweet!

RaynaCendre: Belt is very piraty, so if you want to avoid that, give him a more aristocratic looking pants. Owl mask is cool, you could maybe shrink the beak a little?

    Howie: Number four.

    Buttermonster: Stylish!

Naidy: Clearly an improvement. He's looking good. Thanks for the feedback, I took your advice

Parsakoira: I like her with a big head. She's not human after all. Shaping up to be a winner.

Elbi: Pretty lady, but make her more Orcy I would say

Whiskey Sour: Great mask, and Face! His cape has some strange folds, and he needs some sort of background even if it is just a mess of colors or something.

Havok_Reed: The skin palette you have there is a little uniform in hue. Try to change it towards orange for the highlights.Still liking the idea.

Spastic_potato: The shoulders and neck of the horse look like a ball shape. There are a lot of muscle and bone structure in that area wich is very characteristic. Definitely get reference for that. I like the unicorn mask design.

hemlock-key: You could improve the dress if you shade it as one shape. Now all the folds are shaded separately.

makilolo: I think it is very nice. She's not too human in my opinion, but you could maybe add some magic effects to the final to make sure. I'm having trouble reading how the dress and leggs are arranged. Is she standing behind some sort of wall?

What is uglier than an angry ogre? A happy one.

Some stuff still needs working on but the design is pretty much there. I changed the costume from harlequin into a Pulcinella one. The mask has a better nose.

I imagine the ogre has snuck into the party and thinks that no one suspects he is there because he is all disguised and stuff.

    Hello!

makilolo - Lookin good, can't wait for the addition of fairy elements.

prepsage - had to laugh, good idea.

Pixeltuner - lookin good as usual.

Howie - nice sketches! curious to see which one you go with.

    Buttermonster - LOL

Parsakoira - nicely painted! The size of the head doesn't really bother me too much. It is large, but could work if your going for a more short and cute look. If your going for the thin and elegant elf look, it should probably be smaller as havok reed pointed out.

Here's my sketch. The night didn't go quite as he imagined it would. Thoughts?

Nice develpment in this thread, lots of nice chacters.

@RaynaCendre - interesting design and pose. I think that something is off with the proportions, the hads too long and maybe the legs too short. And also i think u could cover the left arm with the wings too.

@Naidy - I think the character looks good, I like the linework and the shading works with it but i think that u should do something with the background, -the shaky lines(as oposed to the clean lines of the char, no lines for background could do but with a firmer edge) and especially with the colors, to me the white is distracting, maybe something like gray with a little color complementing ur character would work better or whatever u like but to support ur the char not compete with it.

@Elbi - I like ur idea a lot, the masquerade of a female orc dressed as a normal girl works very well, but I think u should accentuate the contrast, she's too prety, u could make her much more orcish and put some delicate materials on the dress, lace, prety flowers, butterflies,etc...

@hemlock-key - nice idea. I think that u could work more on lithing instead of details, now it looks like shes lit form difuse and many light sources which makes it kinda flat. I see u put a thrown shadow u could at least make a gradient, pretty large one, for the wings, and also for the other shapes u separated, eyedrop from contours and with less opacity try follow the light source u hinted at.

@Havok Reed - I like the pose and the expression but I dont really understand his masquerade.

@Spastic_Potato - nice design and shading. I think that the front left(hers) leg look a bit off, either bent it backwars or lift the whole leg like withe the knee bent maybe would work better.

I thought I would give a hand where I thought was needed, hope didnt offend anyone.
The rest of you have already very good wips and gj for that
    Keep at it

    Ps: @Obstfelder: just saw urs : )) nice choice man, it's hillarious : ))

Obsfelter Thanks for pointing it out. I tend to forget about lighting when I'm thinking detail.
Callergi Just saw your comment, at least I was already starting to fix the issue.

How's this? I could probably throw a shadow on that back wing as well now that I think about it...

@Obstfelder: Yea it is pretty uniform. I was playing with a hue/sat layer to get a different skin tone and stuff. So it will start looking a little more like this update. Ive never done green skin before so this is allllll playing with colors right now. Thanks for the tip!

@Callergi: Oh, I just hadn't gotten to that part yet

So basically, he doesn't want to be at this masquerade, but was forced to go...doesn't mean he was going to fully play the part His pants wont be red, I just did a whole layer hue change to get a better idea for this skin for now.

@hemlock-key - yeah tha's the idea, continue to the face and neck and wings(the one hind u could make a bit lower than the one in front - I cant really read some clear perspective lines but I think this will be better)

@Havok Reed - well, then I'm waiting to see what u do with him.

JanJager - I really like what you have. I think the mask is a really good touch for your character!
Naidy - I really like the use of nature in your character's costume as well. Everyone's work is really creative.
Dryleg - That's what's up I really can feel the toughness is your orc as well as class. The one-sided mask really helps with that.

Man I wish I could give some constructive critique here, but everyone's work is really good. Can't wait to see more.

It's slow moving for me, but I've finally got the ball rolling I think

A lot of great concepts coming together this week.

derekdedgell: He seems very disapointed. The costume could maybe use some feature or point of interest. it seems a little simple for a masquerade.

Danny_K: The shadow on the floor in front of her seems too dark compared to how the light is hitting her torso. I like that you are making a gnome woman, good choice.

Howie: Looking good. weird and interesting costume.

Nim: Hard to avoid Mucha with this theme

    Camelli: Hehe. Good idea.

Ok, advice followed with increased contrast. I always tend to start out low key with muddy colours for some reason.

Parsakoira: I love your autumnal elf.
Derek: Nice concept with the pretty mask for ugly troll.
Makilolo: Looks like its going to be a grand costume.

Overall, I enjoy seeing how everyone starts out with rough painterly sketches through to refinement.

was lost for a long while then I hid the base skin tone layer (bright red shining through where there was a dull mid skin tone) which led the way to finding the key to the next cave... serendipity serves.
