    Datlun's sketchbook

    Hello everybody!
I'm here because it's time for me to take my art seriously.
I'm a bit intimidated by all the skilled artists I've seen here, but, because I was admitted to a game art programme I have to learn to give and take critique.

So please, throw me everything you've got! I will really appreciate any help I get with my akward art.

I'll introduce my sketchbook with something from a few months ago..

I really like this conceptually, haha. It's like a weird lumpy depressed bird muppet. I think you could get more weight to this if he was hunched more- I sat in the pose to make sure, it feels like the arms maybe could be brought more inward. I dunno. It's a tough one since bird smoker's torso is basically a fluffy square.

I think this would make a sweet print.

crow winters - I see what you mean! I tried to sit the pose as well, and he should be a bit uncomfortable like that. I think I could have done his torso better if I had fleshed (fluffed?) it out a bit more, too. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime! Thank you!

Here are some environment studies. I need more practise in that department... it probably shows, but in my defense, the first one is reeaaaally sloppy.

    Smoking depressed animal creatures unite!
I like the hue changes on the bird guy's skin, but structure, balance aswell as perspective could be worked on. If you have a chance to, I heartily recommend life drawing.
Very promising stuff, keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm really bad at drawing regularily, especially now during summer when I've been away from home. Studying from life is definitely something I need to be doing more of.

Here's some more, anyway - the first two are gesture drawings which I later filled in, the third is a self portrait, the fourth is a doodle and the fifth was an attempt at grayscale painting, coloured in another layer in Photoshop.
