    Smile That sketchy book

Hello all, my name is Victor Quaresma and I'm an aspiring concept artist and illustrator from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Anyway, this year I decided to devote myself full time to art, so I can build up a professional portfolio and all that jazz. I'm too much of a perfectionist and picky on my own art and that has been a real problem for me, since I still don't have the skills that I think I should have, making me never really get a painting to a finished level (kinda get too frustrated or anxious and drop it eventually).

Since last week, I decided to go on a hardcore mode and study alot more than I was. So far I've been able to keep a good flow and I wanna keep at it. I'll be posting my stuff here so I can get my art maximized by your lovely feedback, get inspired by other artists and be challenged always.

Thanks for checking my sketchbook!! Feel free to critique, suggest changes, leave ideas, etc etc.

Alrighty, so I'll start off with last week's chow (key master), my first chow, and experience here in ca.org, really great! unfortunatly I had lots of problem rendering it so I decided to work on my fundamentals more =)

    some sketches and thumbnails

tight final lines for the design I picked, I probably spend too much time degning the masks and tightning up lines, which made me not be able to finish it =(

after that fail, this week has been fundamentals only: with loomis, gestures, color studies and getting back to studying perspective off scott robertson's dvd

    Tuesday:

    1h 20min color study

    Wednesday:

    prolly 2hrs

    thingy creature

some 15sec building up to 30min gestures

    Thursday(today)

tons of elipses sketches, 2hrs of doin elipses on all possible ways XD

    daily 15 second gestures

more loomis, struggle a bit more with woman's anatomy so it was tougher, took me more time

and some nightly sketches from imagination to apply gestures and some design

Woow I didn't know this was up! I thought it wasn't approved for some reason D= ... that made me postpone any kind of posting around here. Anyway I'm back for good this time for some serious art studying =D

I started 2 classes now: life drawing class and oil painting class, hope these give me the expected results! =)

I have alot of stuff to dig from my abscense but I don't wanna fill this up with oldies, so I'll just get stuff I did 3 weeks ago up to now (in the next post, uploading stuff)

gonna post here just 2 old chows and their respective sketches (2-3 months old). I didnt finish a single piece after these D=

haha 2hrs of doing elipses, you have a lot more patience than me.

This sketchbook is looking good so far, it'll be great to see how much the life drawing and oil classes accelerate your progress.

    cheers.

Sorry for the sloppy photos, I just needed to do this now or it would be never done, so I took it all now at night... this is what I've done in the last 3 weeks. Overall alot of anatomy studies from book (Paul Richer's Anatomy for Artists) + observation drawing from a big mirror in my room =D, and still crawling in oil painting on which I just started out (1-2 months)

First Still Life study in Oils D=, wish it was a patato so it would make my post alot more meaningful, but there it is, bready

Master studies in oils, the photos really don't make them shine XD

    Life drawings

(my GF, pain in the ass to make her pose, you can see the pure joy of posing on her face hahahaha)

And a WIP I'm currently working on, It's a Magic: The Gathering card redesign for: http://cryptcrawler./files/Image/233...917_stream.jpg (no refs used so far, trying to get the max out of my mind before getting the refs, or just lazy to get em)

@fireblade haha thanks, patience is certainly not my strongest trait I must say, I'm too anxious and that's why I don't have any finished pieces!

Tried to copy in oils a painting, sorry I don't know who's the original author, until saturday I'll try to know who it is and post it up here, I might actually take another photo when it's dry, lots of specularss on the wet paint and I can't figure out a good way to take photos of it X_X

3 head studies/ self portraits (observation on mirror) in the order I did them, tried to get detached of the lines until the last one (which sucked balls) I just blocked in the light and shadows and after it I made some lines.

Very nice work here! I really liked the two men in #8, they're very dramatic/atmospheric.

Looks like you can turn your hand to any medium, which is awesome. I am jealous. Keep updating!
