Tried to push the perspective a bit to make the creature look more threatening and engaging. Also ended up with a t-rex face for some reason.

decided to go with the stag beetle-ish bulky creature.

Edward B: That is looking great! A really dynamic looking sketch.
Varguy: Love the scale of the beast, mate!
Little update on another lunchtime rendering session - tried to fix the face issues but after flipping it a few times, I am still not sure.
My first sketch
Man, wish I had the time to join this one. This is some really badass stuff guys.
@varguy: The spike on the nose is too geometric(cone-like) and not going with the design of the creature.
Some really great stuff developing in here!
Just blocked out the majority of the image (or so I believe at the moment), on to refining. Here's how it currently stands, with a sketchy diagram of creature stance and attack. Don't worry about that body in the bottom left, he'll get friends soon...
Okay guys, here´s my wip for now:
Whaddya think?
...
.....wait - I FORGOT THE CREATURE!!!1
Just a sketch so far by me - decided to go with slightly boar like creature.
So many creative designs here I feel my attempt is kind of ordinary. It's still very rough ideas but all critique is welcome.
hello, I'm sorta new around here. A friend of mine sent me this challenge this week and I figured I'd try it. Starting this challenge I thought, what was the purpose of front line warfare. Be quick and do a lot of damage was my first thought. Anything to big would be a direct target so I went with a medium build creature design that can be transported easily and had a lot of brute force behind it. First round of sketches weren't really anything serious until I fell upon the mountain goat / gorilla design. I wanted my battle to take place in a rocky tundra like setting so agility was also important to me. This creature can toss large objects, and climb. Has horns to to ram and stab its way though a crowd of enemies. Bulky enough to take a good hit, short goat tail as I thought a long one would have been a weakness. Can be ridden as a mount strait into battle or treated as a pack mule to carry supplies to soldiers on the front lines. Those were just some of the things I considered in this design. Still working out a final battle pose, something with a lot of damage I'm sure.
wip. i ended up kind of working backwards for this one.

some sketches, the idea is having a big bone shield to push and sweep away from the front lines.
Awesome work guys! Less than a week to go so let's finish off strong. Here's what my war beast is looking like.
Ricardo Robles- Great Idea! I had pretty much the exact same thing in mind, kinda neat how close they are.
Stinkfist- Stay away from the robotic stuff, keep it organic.
GammaGrey- I like the image but it's pretty much a large elephant with armor. Push the design a bit more, maybe more tusks, or maybe the armor becomes more natural instead of something he wears.
Rock Face Moles. (And Rock Face Lancers)
Just having fun.
I call Mulligan!
(For those of you that don't know that means "do over"..)
This thread is shaping up nicely.
Good to see you playing as well Adam and Ricardo.

DAMN SCORGE! Way to step it up and change directions bro. I'm also pleased to announce that the legendary NJoo and his team at Dancinganchovy will also be participating in a personal challenge to his staff from NJoo himself! Let's give him and his team a run for their money.
Thanks sir! As long as you're not referring to any of the Udon guys, we shall mop the floor with them. Wait, is Andrew Participating as well? Ah boy, we're screwed.
I mean, "Ultimate Victory!!"

Oh jeez. This is just going to be pure insanity.![]()
Hello everybody. This is my WIP for this weeks COW. This creature, as it grows old, develops an armor like skin that can stop arrows, and is used as a mobile cover for soldiers. Armies use them also as a siege creature against walls and doors by using its head and massive weight. It can also wreck havoc on the enemy frontlines when charging as it stomps over the enemies.
I hope you like it. I would appreciate any type of critiques and suggestions.
Thank you.
Almost there. Colors are gonna be tough.
