Thread: ChOW#294 :: Spaceship Pinup
July 1st, 2012 #91
Just realized we have till the 8th to do this one. Have no idea why. Don't care either.
Just about done with the main figure, I think. Still have to decide what she'll be sitting on. Maybe an airplane wing? Meh.
She's tattooed up and covered in bullet holes. It ain't no thang.

Dread_Reaper its a cool design, but the foreshortening on the right leg needs some adjusting. keep it up!

Thanks to everyone that commented and replied to mine
@Agent Melon- Nice thumbnailing!
@obier- I tried to pick a favorite, but I really like all of your sketches actually, I hope to see a finished one
@Callergi- I like your linework so far, but it looks like you need to move her up off the rocket a little bit. Going by the angle of her hips, the front of her pelvic bone would be digging a few inches into that rocket haha, that is not a squishy area ;P. Its probably too late to change it anyway, but on a side note I love her shoes.
@delightful_piffle- really cute sketches!
@derekdegell- great pose and anatomical proportion. Her foot seems to be at an awkward pose however- its not resting on the heel, nor is it resting on the bottom of the shoe, it's at a weird inbetween. The best fixes might be to decide on the resting place of the shoe, but you have great spacing and angle of the legs already, so I would suggest defining the floor placement more to help, or use/design a different type of shoe to conform to the pose you want.
@Pixeltuner-great render, keep going! Her boots don't seem to be the same height though, is that intentional?
my second and third wip, I forgot about this until today haha. crits still welcome, I always miss stuff.

B&W sketch of my entry, WE STILL HAVE TIME!
July 2nd, 2012 #97
@daniorrr- I get a 404 on your image dude, use the uploader
okay, I think this is pretty nearly finished. Might work on trying to get rid of some of the lines on that landing-gear-less sunfish jet fighter thing. Didn't have time for real perspective, so it's very much fudged.
Fixed a few things, added some details, and finalized my EDU logo.

JSN: Might be a good idea, to describe the form just a little more. Yours makes me kind of think about Juni & Juli from Streetfighter Alpha.

Loving the topic.
I'll see if I can finish in time.
I was thinking of the classic Elvgren pin up, except hardcore and over the top.
Inspirations for this are Tank Girl and Judge Dredd.
Here are my ideas. I'm leaning towards #2 and giving her boobs a more rocket-like shape.

@Mitze: very nice. Love the rendering and robot arm.
@bopx: Great pose, also like the aircraft design.
Pixeltuner: That tentacle!!
Took the uniform designs I liked and made female pinup versions of them. Just blocking things in right now. Planning on doing something interesting with the background as well , perhaps a vision of what the earth would look like in the future with space ships zooming around, the odd space station in orbit and an overdeveloped earth. Also some flag designs.

Designing the look and style first...
Okay, going to take a stab at finishing this one...I think I'm going to try to focus on designing the girl first and then pose her. I'm going to try to get some portfolio mileage out of it!
Great stuff from everybody! I think the anatomy is going to be the biggest hurdle. I'm sure most of you guys spent a lot of your teenage years looking at attractive half-naked women so you'll probably be pretty tough critics!

Ah! Late to the party! Really cool stuff here as ever.
no87, really great.
Pixeltuner, they've obviously overcome a lot of body image issues in your future! The black background works a load better.
Jackdaw, Haha, amazing.
Christoffer, really like it. looking forward to more.
Here's mine, I wanted to go cutesy camp nose art kind of thing - phalic symbols galore. I always get to this stage and don't know quite how to finish.

Agent Melon - I like the sporty, confederate style of the clothes.
The whole piece has a very warm, classic look. Nice work so far.
Buttermonster - Very Jetson. I like it. I would've made the thighs slightly slimmer to emphasise on her booty a little more, but that's just my personal taste.
Jager - Nice idea. I want to see more of this.
GennyWood - Cute face. Should be interesting to see what you have in mind for her pose.
RaynaCendre - Looking good so far. However, I really liked the closeup on her face in the sketches. There's more personality in her expression. I would've built a pose from that, tbh. Not that you're doing a bad job on the current piece of course. Just say'in.
daniorrr - Sexy. That little cybernetic spine she's got on the back of her neck is a little too small. I would make a much larger one, stretching all the way down her back and make it complement her feminine shape more.
So here's where I am, atm.
Not sure if I should have both guns firing or just one - perhaps none of them?
After I've finished the grey scale, I'll start with the background (probably on the side of a ship) and add in some color if there's time.

well i thought of introducing the pinup along with his placement as a hologram type, that serves to entertain the crew on space, when not in combat, ...altough i present her as a hologram here, she is a cyborque human person in reallity, and this is just her "painting" in futuristic and animated style

Awesome sketch Buttermonster, really stylish, I liked your last chow a lot too. Do you have a sketchbook?
Gennywood I love your sketch! So much personality, it is excellent (Man I wish I could draw like that) Looking forward to see what you do with it!

Christoffer - Thanks for the critique! I tried adding it on and it did look better!
GennyWood - very cartoony! sweet!
