Turkey warns UN over Syrian 'threat to security'

In a letter to the UN Security Council, Turkey described the incident as a "hostile act by the Syrian authorities against Turkey's national security".

Syria insists the F-4 Phantom jet was shot down inside Syrian airspace.

Meanwhile, Syrian opposition activists have reported fighting near Republican Guard positions in suburbs of Damascus.

There were clashes in Qadsaya and al-Hama, around 8km (5mi) from the centre of the city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told AFP news agency. The British-based organisation also said that security forces had entered the Barzeh area of the city.

Several casualties were reported in Qadsaya, according to the Local Co-ordination Committees.

International media cannot report freely in Syria and it is impossible to verify the reports.

Don't you remember Big Bow? Could be the same.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

Oh but I think it's hilarious. First they send a ship loaded with terrorists, their supporters and weapons to Gaza and then proceed to declaring Israel evil for stopping them.

Then they put me in jail for 3 days with no real water or hygiene, let alone a statement other than from the airline, for calling their stewardess an incompetent cow (and rightly so). Even deported me.

Now they send a fighter plane into Syria and complain about the Syrians hammering it down.

Like, let's walk up to that guy over there and kick him in the teeth. If he retaliates, let's sue him.
    ...gotta love the Erdogan's logic.

I love asinine online statements that mete out no real contribution to the topic at hand.....bravo.

In any case. The conflict's already spilled over here no matter what our government says and does. It's pretty depressing watching the situation deteriorate more and more knowing you can't really do anything.

ANY country still using F4 Phantoms is about as much of a threat as a sling shot.

Some people say , that this F4 was converted into UAV. Secret plan is secret. Anyway , with the fall of current syrian regime there will be horrific causalities among local Christians and this little region with rich history will turn into another anarchic wasteland . I don't know how the Israeli Army is going to defend the rest of the region from this creeping chaos
