Hey guys! I have just decided to go for Graphic Design as a college career. The problem is I really have no idea where to begin in honing my craft. I have photshop and dreamweaver ( I'd like to do some web design ) but I honestly don't know where to begin learning with these programs. If anyone could perhaps give me some links to solid tutorials or just ideas/goals I should be shooting for that'd be sick! Thanks
This is how I do it.
-Learn elements of design
-Learn drawing fundamentals
-Sketch your design ideas
-Explore the software. Use every tool.
-Use tutorials like http://psd.tutsplus.com/
-Observe professional graphic design and try to see their elements
-Try to recreate what you see
Also, try to learn a vector program.
InDesin for Layout, Illustrator for everything else.
Also -- don't skimp on the drawing. I've been doing GD without a degree for about 3 years now and I'm just now figuring out that I HAVE to catch up on the traditional fine arts stuff. It all carries around, so don't shoot yourself in the foot -- learn to draw and design!
