    Jessica's first completed sketchbook!

Hello, I am an animation student. I finally finished the last page of the sketchbook that I started in January. I have started a few sketchbooks during the past few years but never get to finish them... so yeah I'm feeling pretty excited and accomplished right now.. haha

Most of my sketches are done in black colored pencil and some in graphite and pens. Sorry, some photos are a bit blurry cuz I don't have a scanner =/

Feedback or suggestion is very welcomed! Thanks for viewing.

    These are great so far.
Definitely can't wait to see more.

I definitely want to see more value studies though because I notice you have alot of work based on creation of form through lines.

Wow the value studies you have already posted are very nice I agree with Tagachi I would like to see more. Very nice hands and feet. The line work in your drawings from life are very nice as well and reminds me of what I should be trying to do more of myself keep it up!

    Updates after a year!

    Yearly update! lol

In the past year... I got a scanner!! wohoo!! tried animating for the first time ever, learned to paint in gouache, see shapes better, draw the figure with story, improved a little (I guess)... and a lot of other stuff. Overall a very rewarding year I love my new school

Will upload more later cuz I really need to do homework now...

Nice figure drawings. Seems like you've really evolved from a year ago. I definitely get a sense of weight and action in your figures.

got a little tired after multiple 20 min studies so I drew fellow artists instead

buildings which I don't do a lot but should. I actually drew these last semester but never scanned them.

The moonlight and clouds was so beautiful that night I had to draw it. Too bad my skill wasn't proficient enough to capture the enchanting feeling of it. o wellz.

the color cube was soooooo frustrating to paint and took foreverrrrr.. I had to spend more than 3 hours to make it at least look like a thing... Thought this might be too challenging for me after a paintingless semester, I stepped backward a little to paint simpler objects and used a limited palette. still challenging but I was able to have fun at the same time. too bad I didn't realize that flame red and primary blue produces a weird metallic gray and it was really hard to get the feeling of the red cube in blue light right... overall I really liked this exercise and I'll definitely try out more color combination under different colored lights.
