Wow, those sword designs are gorgeous. My favorite things are the symmetry that the design has (which makes sense because it's a sword design) and also the faces in general. Very cool.

    <hr>

Some time ago I came up with the name WarPaint for my future website and maybe a studio, who knows. It's like a trademark under which runs my blog, tumblr and, mainly, this sketchbook. The only problem is that the name is already officially taken by some band and various blog and domain names are unavailable too... But I'll deal with that later. Today I decided to give it some design update:

Just sketched this grim guy while listening to Nox Arcana. Do you see horribly contrasting values? Blame my laptop screen.

The sword is looking badass and is that the "King Raven" from the spitpaint group? I've been trying to get in the habit of doing them but I'm such a slow painter that it end up looking really unfinished. Anyway looks sweeeeet!

BTW, just looked up Nox Arcana... Damn that's some good painting music!

Yea, it was supposed to be a spitpaint, but I knew right away that it'll take more than 30 minutes, so I just sketched slowly. 30 minutes is a killer deadline, but it also challenges you to think ahead and plan your workflow carefully. Definitely try it

PS: I listened to some Nox Arcana track once, late in the night, grave silence around, when a quiet whispers from a headphones chanted "We are watching yooouu...". I died.

Man, you're leveling up quickly! Your lines have improved lots since the last time I was here, and the pencil work is looking really good in general. Personally I feel like the Moleskine sketches work better if you keep the yellow tint, since it's like a light grey, rather than plain white as far as value goes. And you seem to have great brush economy while doing studies, try to keep that same mentality in your imaginary pieces. You seem to go to smaller brush sizes earlier in the process in those, and it gives it a sort of messy feel. Just my 2 cents though, take from it what you will.

    Keep up the good work!

Sword design is bitchin. Have you checked out Behemoths new album, The Satanist? I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with it, let me know what you think of it

PieMonster: Thanks man! I turn the pages into grayscale because of file size. I will think about what you said about lines, thanks again.
milch: No Cheesus here on this thread, only me :p
    Joseph Weston: Rock on dude!
Korzen: Havent heard it whole yet. First song is kickass though. And they nailed the title typography pretty cool, letters forming a key, very good idea.

Will post something later when I'm at home on my computer

I second Korzen in saying that "The Satanist" is a sweet album! Got mine on vinyl
Also this last thing you uploaded looks promising. Wanna se what you do with the background because as it is, it draws a lot of attention and the colors of the piece are a bit too strong everywhere. I'd like to se you do some kind of John Singer Sargent-ish contrast of values and color, limiting your palette a bit more and really get in some nice big chunks of value. I think you can push what you have with a few color and value tweaks and get something really nice out of it.

Tristan: Sweet, vinyls are awesome.Vivid colors are there on purpose. I wanted to try out doing more colors; didn't like it. Back to desaturated tones!

Okay, here is what little I did lately, apart from my project. I'm slacking! And playing Rift more than it's healthy.

Guys, you won't believe me what I found in recesses of backup folders on my drive... MY OLD SCHOOL DRAWINGSSSSS!!! They are from circa 2010, mostly done on textbook pages during lessons. These are the oldest ones I have. Sadly, I didn't take art seriously back then and didn't scan more. Although I use the same shitty scanner today.

Nice stuff Spellsword! You've got a great imagination. The only thing I can see that needs more of your attention is the sense of structure in some of your drawings. Other than that you're doing a great job.

I was referring to the underlying forms in your drawings. In some places I get a good sense of form but in others it looks like there´s no form underneath to hold what you´re drawing. Break down the objects you´re drawing into simple geometric forms to start with and then build the smaller forms on top of that. Also pay attention to how and were one form fits into another form. I hope this makes it clearer.

Ah, yes, I see it now! Thank you, will think of it more from now on. That falling goblin was for Spitpaint Facebook group, 30 minutes per image; I were under pressure and didn't think of what I do, hence the lame structure The latter artworks will be more structure-wise.
