The life studies are very good! I like the mushroom and hammer, the volumes and texture is quite impressive.
Are you using the basic round brush mostly?
Wow man, I'm actually really impressed how tight your studies are and how loose your imagination work can get. I'm always struggling to let go when doing stuff from imagination. Everything feels like studies to me at the moment.
How do you do it?
About the still lifes: I think what they lack is a closer observation of the subtle value and hue shifts. I guess that's also why you lose interest while doing them. You could spent a whole day on just one strawberry if you open yourself up for all the small color shifts and tweaks that you can do. Just try it - It's a lot of fun once you've got into that (lost your mind like I have )
Echi: dude yeahhh i know what you mean, i tried that with the statue still life, it was crazy, the fucking studie was never finished Z.z and more and more stuff could be done, paitning is something hard. about the imagination thing, i know what you mean, at the beggining in my SB i was too stressed to let my mind free but once i relaxed and said i was going to do a few sketches at night with good music just for the sake of doing what i like and let ideas out i kind just started to come with randomon concepts inspired on things i see, for example, last creature is inspired on an horse i draw and saw while walking with my buddy (dog), so just let space for see things you like, and a bit of time to just draw and relax, dont put pressure, thats how it workds for me, relax, i think, its all about mind tricks, discover your mentality, let space to your mind to breath, hope it helps somehow, its hard to explain cause not even i am sure.
stephan: hey thx, i am using oval brush, is like round, just a bit like an egg, i used a bit of textute brush in hammer studie.
had been busy, family visits, here is what i have.
still lifes, trying to be more gentle with them, give them some time and attention,
bumskee edges studie, (the guy is so creeping subtle)
lines from life, about the sangria one, is hard to draw while drunk, your mind gets easily distracted
imagination, trying to see what i learned with bridgman, i feel i understand more now but
for some muscles its still a bit confusing, where they end, begin, their shape etc.
and just some lady for the fun.
for fun >.<
emmm, tried some pou tricks he

sooooooo... my head had been thinking alot in the future on manking and internet itself but for now i think i will just stop it and keep posting here, but i will try to have an eye open.
life, my values sucks a ton with traditional media.
imagination, just usual weird stuff, im having this goal of beaing more clean for the sake of presentation, much to develop.
and lastly environments/clouds, one of my big weakness, im having trouble painting clouds, so hard, too hard, what is more difficult for me is the edges and complexity, i try to simplify but its hard, any critique?
HEY BUUXUUUU :3 how are you doing? I am loving your stuff more and more
Some crits: Your people sketches, the heads are a bit too small for the bodies... just try to keep in mind/study proportions
Work your way from big areas of brushstrokes towards smaller ones. Try not to use an opaque thin liner brush in too many spots...
I noticed you do that, but it makes the overall appearance of your works look messier ( not the pencil sketches though )
Hiyas! I think stuff is looking great, I think your pencil sketched sea-shell looks awesome. As for some crits, the Mu Mask lacks a little bit of form. But other than that I'm glad to see you're studying a large variety of stuff!
Are you going to stop post your stuff here?
Pou: hey pou, yeah i do that in my paintings, i guess i need to learn to paint better, gotta be carefull, thx. and thx for the advice before too, got me thinking into start doing more complex artwork i need to start so yeah always great hear you
Uirimaru: hey man no im not, thats not it, its just that facebook is eating everything and i realize there is where im getting all the pro artwork, thats what kept me thinking you kwow? forums are dying little by little but i want to stay, i love this place, thx for the critique on the mu mask, form is hard to create.
im trying to go for more challenging pieces of artwork, i like characters using abilities and stuff but i rarely do that cause its very challenging and time consuming, but i guess its alrealdy time. for now just characters with things... nothing to smart or complex.
the head is too small... gonna try fix that later.

Hi bux'! Okay I get whatcha mean. The reason I haven't updated for a while is because this place, even though it has meant a lot to me, it has also stressed me out. It's not the forums fault in it, it's mine for having irresponsible thinking. Feels like I've been doing art for Concept Art, and not for my self, you know? Gotta fix that with a short break from this place.
I didn't visit your sketchbook to write a book about myself haha, sorry 'bout that. Just thought I should give you a heads up. I'm here to give you crits, so here goes!
I like what you're doing with the light sources, gives a very clear and good focal point in your pictures. Also that's a great idea to paint characters in their "skill-casting" moment, makes you think about them and the they get more unique and vibrant. I would love to see you work some more with the backgrounds in your character pieces, making them more of a full illustration. That too me, would be the next step, that's also something I'm also struggling with.
You have a great sketchbook !! =D
Uiriamu: i understand you, i think its smart to take a break if things are not ok, hope you fix that buddy, as for the critique, thz i defenetly want to move there soon too, thats why im practicing envis too, but its scares a bit isnt it, at least for me seems intimidating.
Mutsumipat thank you.
imagination, today is a bit boring and with broken arms D:
trying improve presentation too
studies of bumskee artwork, felt i learn alot cauze he shows muscles with alot of form.
still fighting clouds D:

I love the line quality in your latest pencil sketches. What I don't like that much is that you're omitting the head a little - which is the most important thing to study for you right now. I'd suggest doing ~100 60s poses in which you try to focus mainly on the head-to-body proportions. I think that should fix that issue once and for all
Other then that, I love your style, everything from post #218 is just gorgeous!
I don't know the photo-refs that you've used for the cloud studies (I guess you've used photos?), but I get the feeling that your studies are lacking some of the contrast that you'd normally see there. (Those really bright values that can be found in some clouds, etc.)
ecki: hm i took the photos myself the other day, those are the skies of my humeland
im using an old screen with light problems cauze i dont have money for a new screen i want but soon will be fixed
thx alot for the head problem feedback buddy, im gonna do the studies your recommending me, but maybe ill do longer studies, 60 secs seem too fast. (edit: em not all are my shots, i used a master painting and internet photo ref too)
ok ppl everyone MUST see this is amazing really.
imagination, i have a hard time finishing my pieces, i guess i need to develop my method of work? i gess its just lack of practice.
thumbs from ima, my head is still on the i have to do more complex artwork, for now just little thumbs, i cant find an idea i love, hm...
studies from life, render is hard...
master studie (bumskee)
brush studies/experimentation and eckis paintover cylinder.

tried a cow... lol
it took me alot and the results are meh, i am thinking in keep doing cow chow and eow until i see some improvement in my method of work since my method its always a mess it take me too much time to finish anything, yeah well...
Hey Buxu! Thanks for checking out my sketchbook! Man, I must say I really enjoy your imagination work! Especially the character in post 224#. I can see that your also working hard with life studies and anatomy, keep it coming man!

Goddamn, so much work since I've last been here. I don't even know what to say. I'm just impressed at how much you're producing. I think I enjoy your pen sketches from imagination the most at the moment, but studies are important too. The way you draw the figure is very fluid but that leads to the proportions being stretched out. That's fine when it's intended but watch out for it when you're doing things like chow
toshi13go: hey thx alot
jon: joooon yay you noticed, its true i make tons of fluid lines withouth bothering about proportion but i think its cause i lack the control, gotta study the figure more i guess em and yeah i went with alot of imagination lately to try some things but im back to studies, really need them.
went back and forward with this one alot, tried many things, and realized some stuff, i think i know why i take so long, i lack solid skills and as a result end up guessing too much which consumes time... and also because rendering is still something new to me end up messing around endlessly, even so im happy i did the lasts imagination pieces, discovered a few things.

Nice work on all the studies in here. I like your blade dancer, too.
bumskee studies, i still dont understand how his edges can be so organic, my copies of his stuff look digital o_+
messing around, trying to break the barrier of digital feeling and what not
lines imagination, the happy time of sketches
i realized recently im learning design with this experiments, seeing what works, seeing what not.
design studies from life, sketch exploration! :3
the last chow modified, i did adjustments to the light with color balance to separete
in color the lights from the shadows, i already knew this but its hard to remember
all the rules while doing the pieces, its like, ideas come little by little.
and lastly colored some thumbs.
Hiyas again! Break over!
Such movement in your chow Her glaive/reaperweapon just gutted me and all my intestines slurped out. What I'm thinking though is that maybe the hand is too big, or the head is too small, can't really decide. I think it's the head, and I would've enlarged it just a bit.
Haha sketch exploration! :3 Sounds fun! Dora the Explorer!! How hot is it outside where you live, at the moment? I feel like I'm going to be jealous about your answer.
uiri: hey i already talk to you before but welcome back buddy :3 about the chow yep head is too small, everyobe tells me that, its a bad habit im trying to break.
and that day was almost like summer but then started to rain and now is sunny again, i like my homeland
really boring update, just fundamentals...
bri arms (sorry to bore with this, i like to post all so i have as a reminder)
better separete in two posts

figures from mind
paint studies, each using a different brush/technique, just experimenting. oh yeah the first one is made with brushes
uiri gave me, i had lots of fun with the brush, thx a ton mate
bleh hasta la proxima amigos
Hey man! Great studies! Seeing your painting skills it feels about out of place for me to say but.. It looks to me that when your drawing those figures from imagination that you're not putting down the basic shapes first. I think you would find it easier to first make the figure out of basic forms and then place anatomy on top of that. That being said, I really dig these paintings man! Great stuff!
my sketchbook http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=272981
Thanks for checking out my sketchbook
You've got a good routine going with your studies. Something I would suggest when you're sketching is try to use less lines, you're sort of etching/scratching away with many small lines when drawing figure studies. Instead try to use a longer line and less of them, see how fewer strokes it takes for you to draw the figure.
Good work, keep it going.
Toshi: yeah its true, sometimes i start from an arm or other limb and i construct the whole thing from there, gotta watch out, im not yet so confortable doing the figure to be able to do that, thx for pointing that out.
fionkell im gonna try, thx.
carmelW thx, very kind.
