Hi Everyone. I had a doodle for this one. Went for a buddist thing what with the reincarnation stuff.

PhilipO: I think your idea is funny, but we don't really get to see much of the character. Right now he's a bit generic looking. I feel we need to get to know him better.

    Oh hey, an update.

Weee, I've never done a ChOW before! So exciting!

Anyways, here is just what I've generated as an idea and I hope to work up a sketch for the final piece/pose. I wanted to go alien (so I did, haha) and felt that a Keymaster would be an ascetic of sorts... forsaking everyday life things for the sake of the keeeyyyss~ Yeah. The keys themselves will all look the same to the untrained eye.. BUT, that's the idea of the Keymaster being able to see the truth, eh? So if the elements aren't apparent in the keys, then I want to eventually incorporate them elsewhere.. perhaps in tattoos on the skull/head thingy.

Also, I plan on compensating for balance issues this dude would have. he looks like he's going to fall over!

Can't wait to see everyone's final stuff!

back to chow, back to back to chow. no really I've never finished a chow before. hope I'll make something semi-finished in 3 days. if I do, I'll add paint and hopefully colour to my sketchbook first time in ages...
nudity: really like your concept and the style! hope to see you elaborate or polish on it!
alo: awesome et look! love seeing bold et interpretations!
cumquat: absolutely adoring! so cool! don't let the bg be #ffffff white just.. make some off-white or dimmed tone bg so the concept stands out especially with that white beard.
VictorQ: wow! 1, 11 and especially 12 are so cool! hope you get around to pick one and render!
Pixeltuner: great costume! makes me realise I can't get away with just some buddhist robes or mine will lack design!
well farmers just sprayed the fields with pig manure so it's time to sleep, or I won't be able to when they're done. here's sketch so far:

hey guys, there's definitely some awesome stuff around here!

Well today I kinda tightened up the lines and started designing the masks(feeling a bit overwhelmed right now like I always do to myself). The overall idea is that each key is being holded by it's respective god represented by it's mask (the key will be kinda hanging off the masks, still gotta do that) and the chain will be linking all the keys together.

Also can't really decide between some stuff like the overall tones and the hair style (not sure if it's boy or girl, but maybe I'll keep something undefined to give it a weird twist). But I guess I still have tons to do so I better not be held back by too much detail =p

anyway, I'll be following everyone works and maybe pull off a crit every now and then. To work!

Einen: I absolutely love your concept The colors are great, and I love the guys smile

Tchuk: I really like your new concept, but before I was looking forward to you finishing your first one. Who every said elemental kids couldn't be keys? lol

VictorQ: I am glad you picked that concept, that was my favorite, and I look forward to seeing it when it's done!

Noctisette: I am also looking forward to seeing yours finished, I really like the flow of the dress and the fine detail is really nice!

My update for today: I completely reworked the hands with paper and pencil since I was having so much trouble on my wacom. I cleaned up a lot of the lines, highlighted the skin a bit, designed my key, and added them in as well as playing with a background color.

Here's an initial sketch/wip. The rough idea here is that the keymaster not only judge but enforcer and protector of the keys. To fulfill this task, the chosen one is "infected" with a symbiote, allowing hims powers not unlike Venom or the guy from Prototype.

Good topic this week! I need to sketch some different poses/compositions, but here's a color sketch for the magic key/layer. I wanted to make a child gatekeeper, but I'm not digging the short limbs. Should probably sketch some more variants of the idea as well.

Hey guys. I'm not nearly as good of an artist as most of you, but here's my WIP. Don't know if you can tell from the sketch, but the keys are basically hanging in the guy's shackles.

Another update, will add the keys in a minute. No idea what colours I'll be using yet though

And I also liked my last sketch Vara but I did ask and, yeah it can't be used. Ah well.

Usually I just lurk and watch these things but decided to join in this time.

Feel like I've headed in a different direction to everyone else, wanted a bit more a sci-fi feel, and wanted to use the chains and keys in a more decorative manner. Some ideas:

    Name: ideas.jpg
Views: 341
Size: 460.4 KB

As for the keys I messed about a bit and wanted something less conventional, started thinking about what type of door it'd have and I tended towards an ethereal plane type, something like the Shadow Locks from Diablo.

    Currently working with this:

Hey Eristhe. I like the direction you're going with your design. It's a cool idea.

Bopx welcome. I hope you get a chance to finish. Your sketch is looking pretty nice so far.

Tchuck. Thanks so much ! I really liked your first sketch too. It's too bad you can't use it. I hope you get a chance to work on it sometime anyway. Your new concept is also cool. I very much get the hindu holy man feel...and a vulture.

Hey Nim. Thanks ! I just read your post, and yes I shall change it from #FFFF white in the final . I really want to put in a background sometime, but it probably won't be for this deadline.

VictorQ I really hope you work those sketches up ! Number 10 looks awesome.
