    SycrosD4 Sketchbook

    Hello,

I completed an undergrad study in animation and game design, but my instructors informed me that I would do well pursuing a career as a concept artist. I was unaware of exactly what that type of position entailed at the time, but since graduating SCAD in May of 2010, I’ve come in contact with some prominent professionals in the business, including James DonVito, a senior concept artist with a 15-year-long career. While I was glad to now have clarity and specificity in my pursuits (until then, I had been the greatest bane of the creative world: a “jack of all trades, but a master of none”) it was obvious that my skill level was certainly not up to par with industry standards, as one potential employer made explicitly clear to me. I’ve made many strides in bettering myself through self-funded work studies, but these have yielded very limited and unsatisfactory results. I hope that my joining a professional community like this will be of great help. Thanks!

    Unclear staging is unclear

This is my latest painting. It isn't very good. I like how the background is, but the foreground is far too vague. It would work within the context of a comic progression, but as a stand-alone illustration, it needs help. What do you guys think?

    Monstrous

I just finished this today. It took me all day. Does anyone know how I can improve on my speed? I know pros who could do something like this in an hour. I'd greatly appreciate the help.
