Spartan Camp #226 - 50 gestures + Optional "Sports Gestures" Study

Spartan Camp #226 - 50 gestures + Optional "Sports Gestures" Study

The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 10th of June.

    - The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you!

    - In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Sports Gestures" Study, in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:

    The background:
After a short hiatus, let's start off with a straightforward study. With the Olympics and the Euro soccer championship starting soon, lets do some sports gestures!

    The exercise:
Sports gestures. You can do a single study if you want, but it would be more interesting to include a couple of sports gestures in the usual 50. Any sport will do, there should be plenty of reference around. A good chance to get some dynamic action poses in!

    Next weeks optional:
"Reilly Method Study". Will post a suggestion shortly.

50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.

Criticizing each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference images and resources!! Let's help each other get better!

Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

@ kayness: let the horse's back flow with a change of direction into the butt/ backleg, and have it break at about 90 degrees on the other side, where it break away from the chest. front legs should also flow all the way starting from the shoulder, which is at the top of the back. also keep the front of the chest broad and the start of the neck deep. ill do a sketchup and add.. just a sec.

@shiNIN Not sure what to recommend here, since it's gesture time. Some studies breaking things down into planar forms?

@kayness The loose style there is working well, though some things are losing volume b/c of line rhythm and flyswatted poses. Pretty much what Ashess is showing.

@ashess Yours look good. Also loose. Good line rhythm.

Some painterly ones. Apx 5-10 minutes each so may try something faster for the rest.

ashess - thank you so much for laying that down for me. i have been trying to capture it...i can see it, but...it's just not quite translating! P

I've been doing some watercolour studies...uh. just playing around with some watercolour pencils and crayons really. i guess it was totally inspired by AdrianNargoski's faces...i like faces, but I think I'm getting sick of drawing human faces. I think I draw humans so much that after a while they all start to look a just little better than shaved monkeys to me.

so yeah most of them are animals this time.
In the order that I did them:

    @ashess They're working now.

@kayness Holy fuck those are awesome. I just started with watercolor pencils recently for quick gesture stuff and was wondering what could be done with them in more capable hands.

@kayness, Agreed, those watercolor sketches are inspiring. I have a couple of the pencils, but I didn't think they could turn out looking this nice.

I don't think I'll make the 50 by Sunday, but giving it a crack.
