    Clearstone's Casualty Pool

    Attachment 1670117

So hopefully getting my feet under me in terms of regular practice and recognizable improvement here are some sketchbooks. I typically date sketches to create a timeline between books, but those without a time marker are usually clustered between those that do.

Anywho, my name is Patrick and I recently squeezed my way into a Fine Arts program at the local university. I spent two years as a tattooist's apprentice -which was an interesting experience- and another two in food service as a line cook. Ideally I'll pursue a career in education then see where that leads me. I joined the site to learn, not only about conceptual and technical design but to gain a better understanding of where I stand as a dude who draws. Here ya go.

This week I'm doing a lot of studies with armour and various metals. So I'll get those up. They'll be in acrylic mainly, because I need to diversify mediums I'm comfortable in. Images will be made slightly smaller. I didn't realize how large these ones were.

The only reason I put the charcoal studies in a portfolio binder is so they won't smudge during transport. If someone could suggest a way of sealing them, it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably something that isn't aerosol or comes in a pressurized container.

    These are fantastic.
I love #3, what looks like a Japanese Swordsman, the shading is really well done, and the details are brilliant.

I can't wait to see some more work

@ ShuBean: Thank you very much! I'll be moving away from graphite a bit though. I feel like experimentation is in order.

Now for some more intensive (at least for myself) armour studies! I really need to start drawing some legs though. Those below are roughly hour long studies from photographs. May I'll draw some actual metal in the coming days.

Some stuff from today. Had some time to kill. About thirty minutes each. I really messed up the right eye on the left image. But whatever, just getting the hang of acrylic painting.

Pen doodles from a few months ago. I'll have more pen tomorrow. I'll be going down into the city to brave it's narrow passes for some life studies.

This week a got a bit done. I'll upload packages per week, because it's easier to see progress over the week. Some color stuff, which is what I used to do a lot more of. Going to be doing some more of it this week. Maybe some peppers and cans.

Got lots done. Found an old water color sketch book, so the next dumb will be some hopefully more 'refined' water color studies, or studies in water color. Maybe even a finished piece. I'm trying to work on my line work by doing lettering. Why not?

My hopeful entree to the COW #266. I don't think I'll finish it in time though.
