Hi guys, Im new to the forum and to the whole concept art thing, I love drawing and I bought a Tablet (Im a multimedia disigner) and wanted to give it a try.
This is my first concept of an armor, I would like you guys to give me tips on how to improve.
Thanks in advance, a hug from Argentina.
Well, looking around for ways to render metalic surfaces might be worth your while.
The chainmail doesn't do it for me, frankly. You got a tablet now, I suggest you experiment for a while with custom brushes, it's fun and really pays off.
Like the design - I can so imagine it on a person.

I totally agree on the "practice on how to render surface" suggestion but completely against the "use custom brushes" tip. The problem is that if you don't know to PERFECTION how brushes work you'll never learn how to use a custom brush properly. My thought is to start with round normal brush and learn how it works under your hands, when you got that to 100% then you can start making your own custom brushes or download something already done to speed up your work (that's what a custom brush do, nothing more than this).
Anyway this armor looks very flat, you need some perspective on it.
I really like the overall armour design, but the presentation needs a little more work as mentioned.
