    wip

    A quick sketch.

The background is supposed to be city of gods. the training area is where the gods summon various creatures to fight and improve their skills.(I am not going for a place where they are going to have a weapon specific training and so on.)

    comment please

Does it have to be Greek Gods? I mean I know that Olympus is Greek, but the brief doesn't mention specifically greek gods. I just think it would be cool to do Norse gods. Would that still work?

Yes, that's fine, but keep in mind that you don't necessarily have to have gods. Maybe humans have found their way up there too, you never know.

ashess: strange take on the subject, i like some of your thumbnails, yours actually reminds me of religious paintings for some reason
i like the very last image you posted the most very interesting camera angle.

Sutan san: I'm liking the perspective foreshortening in this, the scale is epic so thats great!

coool_brain: nice setting, liking the perspective in yours.

    WIP:
the way it was in my head, tilted the angle a bit, tried to put it down on canvas. 4h30min so far
i dont think i'll get to finish again!! AArgh!!!!

uuuhg; I alsways start getting stuck at this stage.
I like a lot about the last one prev post, but I cant get much enviro in there.. so maybe like this:

but I also liked that mountain poking out from the clouds on the first piece. in this one, the mountain goes up. actually, that has a little bit of something going, but it doesnt feel quite right yet.
I cant get everything I like in one piece. I know that.. still, it irks.

@adrian: I thought mine would be the most classical boring approach imaginable. but maybe im wrong. I like your stage, but there should be some kind of backdrop. like mountains in the distance; your horizon is above the paper after all. and the giant figures are statues I think?

@pixel:it looks great. but im thinking castle right now. medieval even

    wip 2

Allright, I don't have a lot of time today, so that's the thing I've tried. I don't know if I've killed the composition... but then again I didn't really decide on what my selling point is going to be. Hope to update tomorrow aswell.

It doesn't fit the theme really well at the moment I'm afraid. I'm gonna try to turn it more god- and training ground like. The perspective of the building doesn't fit either.

dammit ashess, I was digging the crotch-bottom-up view.

Sushy that's cool and all, but it also kind of looks like a pokemon stadium lol. Zeus chooses raichu.

Kvenh It's a pretty good wip, also EOW is always open-ended. Also lay down some perspective lines, because I think the mountain and the building work.. in their own ways but put them together and the perspective seems a little wonky.

jon n But Zeus is all seeing and omnipotent... hide and seek would be so unfair...

Pixeltuner one of these days by jove I promise I will upload something before you! Jesus. You are lightning fast over here and at ChoW. I like it, not sure if it fits the brief because it looks more like a pretty but ruined Byzantine/Romanesque church. Also I request a tut/recording. :| /aherm. *shamelessly asking for things

some thumbs. In favour of the 3rd and 4th. Not too sure how to go on from there for now.

Hekatoncheir: Haha, I'm sorry if I'm in any way demotivating :p And yeah you're kind of right about the cultural difference, but I kind of look at it this way: The fact that old Greek's had a certain style of building things doesn't mean their Gods would

I will be on streaming and tutorialing as soon as I have a new Mac which can cope with it :p I have some freelance work now which will provide for that in the end, but it can take a while before it's all sorted

@hekatoncheir: thats funny xD Well, I have been a fan of pokemon for a long time, so I am not surprised that it sometimes shows through my work, but I would never expect it to show through an environment XD

I hope it is less pokemon now:

hekatoncheir: Yeah it's open ended. I just personally want to convey the story that the topic suggests. Otherwise I might as well be just doing enviros from head without established topics. Thats just me though.

This still doesn't issue that but gonna post it either way. Not working in my head but maybe someone finds it useful. Wippy. Just trying out different things.

    edit: not partaking with this

Heres what Ive got so far, its supposed to be Mount Olympus itself (obviously, I guess) but it doesn't look like a training ground yet. I'll be honest and say that I'm kind of stuck, I was planning to implement an entrance at the front based on Hoysala Temples in India since this style of architecture feels natural with mountains (in my opinion.)

And yes, it's supposed to float in mid air, haha.

Could use some feedback on this < 3

Bara: Looking good, but you have some perspective issues with the arenas. The second one on the left has a less visible groundplane than the top one even though it's lower in space. It kind of makes the top one look like it has a bulge or is on an angle.

sean : liking that one, but I really like the space+depth you had in one of the thumbnails (right side, upper one). Tots would like to see that incorporated.

kvenh: I think it can work, but the foreground is mad bland and really bright and huge compared to where the action is taking place. Either crop that area off/make it smaller or drag the piece down so the action is lower on the picture plane or also put action there. ... unless you're doing that already lol.

coool_brain: don't put a person on the bottom half-cut from the waist down. It's as an awkward crop, and I feel like you could place people else where in the composition to kind of center the focus.... in other words, what bara said LOL.

bara: love love love love love, though Pixel is right on the perspective. dropping down some lines won't hurt!

pixeltuner: yo dawg, where yo' update at? also you're not at all a demotivation... quite the opposite actually. After seeing you and maxdav90 post stuff around, I was like, aiight, coming back to cow/chow/eow.

Update. Kinda liking the way it turned out, even though it's more hallway then battleground LOL. Running is a form of training!

Not sure I understood you completely . Are you serious about the character on the bottom left?
