gravity-zero's sketchbook
1-02-2013
Deleted previous content but I'm picking this up again. Sorry for any inconvenience but honestly no one was following this anyway, to my knowledge, and only 4 people were kind enough to comment.
Either way, I'm picking this up below so it counts as a new post and not just an edit.

Hi gravity-zero!
You seem to have a lot of control with your studies and the pencil, keep it up!
I'd recomment doing some lighting studies with digital though, I think that might really help give your digital stuff some more depth.
Keep posting!

Hi
I really like the scythe wielder, especially the contrast between his robes and the scythe. I also think that your traditional sketches are very good, plus the perspective shot of sephiroth is epic.
Your digital sketches feel a bit flat. It's almost as if there are strong spotlights surrounding the subjects. Try to vary the colours more, and change the hue of the shadows to match the colour of nearby objects. For example, in the picture of Snape, there is the strong neutral sunlight streaming through the window and deep, orangey light coming from the fire, yet he looks very uniformly lit.
Overall, though, a really promising sketchbook. Good work!

cool paintings, peacock is splendid. Your characters are interesting to look at, little girl is the best. Keep going, I'll be watching at your studies with pleasure.

I noticed the picture of Kristen Stewart is a bit to life like and organic, she should be more zombie like for accuracy.

Heyo! you've got some nice studies here! All these concepts are pretty cool as well as the paintings. I would love to see some more figures rather than just portraits just so that you can make sure you learn how to draw everything also try to get some traditional sketches into the mix as that is always good!

And for a slightly different thing, another study but bigger, with colour...and with water and mountains and stuff.
Everything here is out of my comfort zone, except I suppose, the lady, but she has colour so it's still a bit out of my comfort zone, especially with this type of light. It sucks but hey, still learning!

You can see the original image HERE - it's a stock photo from dA by kuoma-stock.
Thanks for looking!
