    Andrei's Sketchbook

    Hi ConceptArt!

My name is Andrei and this is my sketchbook.
I'm a 3D Environment Artist and I'm interested in concept art. I would like to learn the basics: perspective, line weight, values, color theory, form and function, composition... and I plan to do a lot of studies. Once I'm happy with the quality of the studies I make I will start drawing over my 3D scenes to improve them and at some point I the future I would also like to draw full environments from my mind.
I will try to post daily everything I do. I will draw daily.
I'm also documenting my learning process here: http://andrei313.blogspot.ro/

Thanks for visiting my sketchbook and please leave a comment!

I started with a photo study of a paper boat and added some kind of water as well just for fun.

    Another photo study.
If I zoom enough it's starting to look like the ref. Hopefully I will have to zoom less the more I do these studies.

keep it up, and don't be afraid to spend longer on your photo studies to capture subtleties in light, for example.

Thanks again for the words of encouragement. I don't always get to spend as much time as I would like to on each study but I will come back to some of them later to see how I can improve them (and to check if I improved as well).

Today I had a little more time and I picked something smaller.

Today's study. It turned out more cartoon like... I guess it's because I got the shapes wrong but I had fun making it like that.

Two more WIP photo studies. I spent around 1h on each, I probably need to spend another hour to finish them.

I should have more time during the weekend but today was a busy day.
2 more quick studies, 15min each.
This is the original image size I'm working on and I'm trying not to zoom too often or too much. As I start to feel more comfortable with what I'm doing I will start to increase the image size and the time spent on each study. For now I'm happy with the direction I'm going in.

Hey I am surprised you have not got more comments here. But I think what your doing is good I love how you do a study of an object from a reference and then try to draw different views of it to understand the shape and form. The coffee jug looks really cool like that. I think I may try something like that. Your enviro look pretty cool.

Keep uploading because I am following! This will be awesome in the near future!

Two more quick studies to start the day.
I felt more comfortable making those so I spend around 30min on each this time. I also increased the resolution.
