Thanks Eddy for your comment. I got into 3D cause of my work...I really, really like it cause it helps you understand form better. Working in Zbrush is awesome, love that program....I don't spend enough time in Zbrush. It's nice to go between both....also, I attend lectures at Gnomon as much as I can and the lectures are always an eye opener. So I like to try new things, keeps it fresh.

Elinor Donahue, maybe some of you might remember her from the Andy Griffith Show and Daniel Day Lewis.

Internet was down this morning at work, so I doodled for a bit. This was the first thing that popped into my head, I think he is a comic book villain. Maybe Comic-con is in my thoughts?

I don't think it's coincidence. I focus on the eyes & mouth, a lot of emotion can be expressed in those areas. Always trying to push the boundaries, but keeping in mind that I'm not drawing, painting or sculpting to make fun of someone. I try to focus on what I see first and how it ties into the other features of the face. Oh yeah, I still have to try out another Bruce Lee on you guys! I hope your doing good Hitsu//San!

"Secondary," would not describe it in that way (that's not how I think of it), cause a lot of times I start off with a shape of the subjects head to get scale, shape...etc and then start working in the eyes and mouth. I'm always striving to express that emotion to the viewer. Depending on the subject I'll start of my rendering differently. Like the Chris Holmes piece, I started with the eyes and nose. Hanging out with him, I knew right off the bat what I wanted to express, that...what the f&*k are you talking about look he gives out sometimes. Davy Jones, was a fat brush to get the silhouette of his head down, then I started to work from out to in. So, I know you all hear this a thousand times, but sketch, sketch and do more sketching. These are the things that are running through my head when I'm rendering these caricatures. I hope this explains it...

A non caricature, I would render it in the same fashion. What I'll try to do is, when I sketch...I'll take some screen shots of my progress...so that you can see from A to B. Every subject is different, what I try to keep in my mind is drawing basics, helps me make my decisions as I render the subject. These are good questions, helps me understand "me" better and perhaps I can explain or use the correct terms to talk about how I work.

Using Angelina Jolie to demonstrate how I go about "Sketch Painting." Hitsu//San you had some questions, maybe this will explain some of them. It's all about form, shape and value at this stage.

Thanks! This one, I wanted a more oil based look. Was not working out, so I went back to my old ways to finish the picture. Came across some new Photoshop brushes that I'm going to try out. I have been working from dark to light lately, going to switch it around to working from light to dark, and see how that works.

I have not...I did the hair in photoshop. I still look at myself as a novice when dealing with 3D. So, strictly a conceptual piece...trying to nail down a method between Zbrush & Photoshop, is what this is. I would like to push myself more into concept design and 3D is sooooo fun to play with lol.
