hello! yay for starting a sketchbook on CA!
i really like your values in the picture you posted and her pose, even in a quick sketch you managed to definitely invoke emotion/set the mood.
    keep posting! (:

More of my bio: I just finished up my freshman year at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. My first year was awesome I met really cool artists and teachers and I am looking forward to what is to come of the future. I plan on gettting a BFA in Life Drawing and I would like to enroll in the Biomedical Visualization program at UIC and become a medical illustrator (if i get accepted).

Here is some more from the same weekend at the P&C.

Okay here's alot of stuff from my second semester at the school. there is some color studies towards the end. I also started to do some oils during an open session class at school. One of the oil teachers somewhat runs it and is helping me out with that. there are also some oil portraits from a portrait club that the same teacher does once every week where a student or teacher poses for us for 3 hrs. I've enjoyed my first year of school very much and im looking forward to starting the next year. I am starting summer classes tomorrow so I am very much excited to get back into things. Still have a lot to learn!

Wow! Really excellent work on the human figure! I especially like the one where you have the skeleton. Great sketch book. I'm gonna check out the book you recommended in my sketchbook.

Looking good! I like the stuff you've done with oils and your graphite / charcoal skill level. I'd like to see how you go with inks or something washy like that - a departure from "dense" media like oils and into something a little more finnicky.

Keep it up though, I'm liking what you've got here!

Solid work here, you seem to handle values and lighting quite well, gives you images a ton of depth. Keep it going!

Jonhop- Thanks! its an excellent book. I think you'll enjoy it.

ATP- its funny you say that about the ink wash because my teacher recommended I try it in my sketches. I definitely will try it tho in the near future. Thanks for the comment

cgaddict- Thank you I appreciate the compliment. I definitely don't plan on stopping any time soon

Here's some sketches from today. I went to two quick sketch sessions at the palette and chisel. I definitely need to work on my linework more. however I feel like i'm slowly improving on my gestures ever so slightly.

Linked your sketchbook, Nick. Keep up the hard work at the Pallette. In love with the 25 min pose with her foot up on the stool.
